Diego (band)
Diego is an Indie rock band from Karlsruhe, Germany, formed in 2005. History After its formation in 2005, the band released eight songs on an EP titled ''Diego'' in 2007 on Rookie Records. In April 2008, the first full-length studio Album, ''Two'', was recorded which was released on 31 October 2008 by Noisedeluxe Records. The album received a favourable review from the ''Plattentests.de'' webzine that noted a melancholic and longing mood in the songs. The ''Sonic Seducer'' wrote about a "cool elegance" of this album and highlighted the guitar arrangements. In 2010, Diego met the producer Kurt Ebelhäuser to record the second album ''Gold''. It was released on 24 September 2010 by Unter Schafen Records. The ''Intro'' magazine called it "generally a step ahead" but also criticised Diego for again being too arbitrary, for showing too few characteristics and rough edges. Post-punk
Post-punk (originally called new musick) is a broad genre of punk music that emerged in the late 1970s as musicians departed from punk's traditional elements and raw simplicity, instead adopting a variety of avant-garde sensibilities and non-rock influences. Inspired by punk's energy and DIY ethic but determined to break from rock cliches, artists experimented with styles like funk, electronic music, jazz, and dance music; the production techniques of dub and disco; and ideas from art and politics, including critical theory, modernist art, cinema and literature. Kurt Ebelhäuser (Kurt Ebelhaeuser in English) is a German musician and record producer from Koblenz, probably best known for his work as guitarist for the indie rock band blackmail. He is also singer and guitarist for another indie rock band Scumbucket, which he formed in 1996. Both bands released several albums to high critical acclaim and toured extensively throughout Europe and Japan. New Wave Music
New wave is a loosely defined music genre that encompasses pop-oriented styles from the late 1970s and the 1980s. Joy Division
Joy Division were an English rock band formed in Salford in 1976. The group consisted of vocalist Ian Curtis, guitarist/keyboardist Bernard Sumner, bassist Peter Hook and drummer Stephen Morris. Sumner and Hook formed the band after attending a June 1976 Sex Pistols concert. While Joy Division's first recordings were heavily influenced by early punk, they soon developed a sparse sound and style that made them one of the pioneers of the post-punk movement. Editors are an English rock band, formed in 2002 in Birmingham. Previously known as Pilot, The Pride and Snowfield, the band currently consists of Tom Smith (lead vocals, guitar, piano), Russell Leetch (bass guitar, synthesiser, backing vocals), Ed Lay (drums, percussion, backing vocals), Justin Lockey (lead guitar), Elliott Williams (keys, synthesizers, guitars, and backing vocals), and Benjamin John Power (composer and producer).
