Didier Tarquin
Didier Tarquin (born 20 January 1967, Toulon) is a French cartoonist and comic book writer. He spent the first ten years of his life in Touggourt (Algeria) in the Sahara desert. He chose to become a cartoonist during a cartoon summer camp. His professional career started in 1990 with Soleil comics but he attained real fame in 1994 with the series ''Lanfeust of Troy'' in collaboration with Christophe Arleston. Touggourt ( ar, ﺗﻗﺮت or تڤرت; ber, ⵜⵓⴳⵓⵔⵜ, Tugurt, lit=the gateway or 'the gate') is a city and commune, former sultanate and capital of Touggourt District, in Touggourt Province, Algeria, built next to an oasis in the Sahara. Soleil Productions is a French publisher of both original and imported comic books. History Soleil was founded in 1989 in Toulouse. Soleil quickly became known as a publisher of cartoons and parodies such as Rahan, Blek le Roc et Tarzan. It soon went into the heroic fantasy. Christophe Arleston (born Christophe Pelinq, 14 August 1963) is a French comics writer and editor. He has also worked as Scotch Arleston. Biography In his early childhood, Christophe Arleston lived in Madagascar, Macon and Paris before returning to Aix-en-Provence. He studied journalism at Marseille. He started his career by working as a journalist and later in communications. He started writing radio drama for France Inter. In 1992 he started writing comic books for Soleil Productions. In 1994 he published Lanfeust of Troy. In 1998 he created Lanfeust Mag, a monthly comic strip. Since 2021, he is the head of Drakoo Editions, a fantasy comics publishing house. In 2010, he was the bestselling comics author in France, with 1.5 million albums sold that year. Between 1980 and 2023, he was estimated to have sold 15 million albums. A gnome is a mythological creature and diminutive spirit in Renaissance magic and alchemy, first introduced by Paracelsus in the 16th century and later adopted by more recent authors including those of modern fantasy literature.
