Dick Findlay
Dick Findlay is a Canadian boxer who represented Canada in the 1968 Summer Olympic Games. Early career In 1966 and 1967, Findlay was the first boxer to earn back-to-back "Golden Boy" awards in the BC Golden Gloves. He also boxed in the 1967 International Diamond Belt Centennial Boxing Championship hosted by the Rajah and Burnaby Shrine Clubs at the PNE Agrodome in Vancouver. After earning a decision over Nicky McDonald in the finals of the 1968 BC Golden Gloves, he was named BC Golden Boy runner-up in 1968. Commonwealth, Pan-American and Olympic Games In 1966, Findlay competed in the British Empire and Commonwealth Games. In 1967, Findlay was a member of the Canadian Pan American Games Boxing Team. The 1968 Summer Olympics ( es, Juegos Olímpicos de Verano de 1968), officially known as the Games of the XIX Olympiad ( es, Juegos de la XIX Olimpiada) and commonly known as Mexico 1968 ( es, México 1968), were an international multi-sport event held from 12 to 27 October 1968 in Mexico City, Mexico. BC Golden Gloves
The Golden Gloves in British Columbia, Canada has been a key amateur boxing tournament since its inception in 1939. The debut Golden Gloves champions in 1939 were Wayne Morris, Alan Dunn, Phil Vickery, Erick Burnell, Bob Hickey, Henry Devine and Kenny Lindsay. The first Golden Boy was Phil Vickery. The Sun Golden Gloves Following promotion of amateur boxing in 1938, the executive of the BC Amateur Boxing Association believed it was time to start a Golden Gloves tournament. PNE Agrodome
PNE Agrodome is a sports arena located in Vancouver, British Columbia. It was built in 1963 and holds 5,000 people or 3,260 when configured to use the hockey or lacrosse surface. It annually hosted the provincial high school boys' 'AAA' basketball championships until 2010. The tournament moved to the Langley Events Centre in 2011. It was used as a professional wrestling venue by NWA All-Star Wrestling for bigger events in the 1960s and 1970s, and more recently by WWE for smaller events.
