Dick Bond (cricketer)
Richard John Bond (born 8 February 1948) is a former English cricketer. Bond was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm medium pace. He was born in Beck Row, Suffolk. Bond made his debut for Suffolk in the 1981 Minor Counties Championship against Norfolk. Bond played Minor counties cricket infrequently for Suffolk from 1981 to 1987, which included 37 Minor Counties Championship appearances and a single MCCA Knockout Trophy match. He made his only List A appearance against Derbyshire in the 1983 NatWest Trophy. In this match, he scored 27 runs before being dismissed by Steve Oldham. Beck Row
Beck Row is a village in Suffolk, England. The village is close to RAF Mildenhall and is home to about 3000 people. Culturally, the village has an old church and a beacon dating from the time of the Battle of Trafalgar. A Victoria Cross recipient, Ron Middleton, is buried in the local cemetery. MCCA Knockout Trophy
The National Counties Cricket Association Knockout Cup was started in 1983 as a knockout one-day competition for the National Counties in English cricket. At first it was known as the ''English Industrial Estates Cup'', before being called the ''Minor Counties Knock Out Competition'' from 1986 to 1987, the ''Holt Cup'' from 1988 to 1992, the ''MCC Trophy'' from 1993 to 1998, the ''ECB 38-County Cup'' from 1999 to 2002, the ''MCCA Knockout Trophy'' from 2003 to 2005. It has been called the ''MCCA Trophy'' since 2006 until its current rebranding in 2020. From 1998 to 2002, the competition was contested by 38 teams and included a group stage. Steve Oldham
Stephen ("Steve") Oldham (born 26 July 1948, High Green, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England) is an English former first-class cricketer, who played for Yorkshire County Cricket Club from 1974 to 1979 and from 1984 to 1985, and for Derbyshire in the intervening years 1980 to 1983. Oldham made his debut for Yorkshire in the 1974 County Championship, taking 3 wickets for 7 runs in an innings victory for the team. He appeared exclusively in the Second XI during 1975, and rejuvenated his first-team career the following year. Oldham stayed with the Yorkshire first-team until 1979, and moved the following season to Derbyshire. In the 1981 season, Oldham was a member of the Derbyshire team that won the National Westminster Bank Trophy. In 1982, he achieved his best bowling performance of 7 for 78 against Warwickshire. The 1983 NatWest Trophy was an English limited overs county cricket tournament which was held between 29 June and 3 September 1983. The third NatWest Trophy competition, it was won by Somerset who defeated Kent by 24 runs in the final at Lord's. Format The seventeen first-class counties were joined by thirteen Minor Counties. This was a change from the previous versions of the competition, where only five Minor Counties were permitted to take part. The Minor Counties taking part were: Berkshire, Cambridgeshire, Cheshire, Devon, Dorset, Durham, Hertfordshire, Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Oxfordshire, Shropshire, Suffolk and Wiltshire. Derbyshire County Cricket Club
Derbyshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Derbyshire. Its limited overs team is called the Derbyshire Falcons in reference to the famous peregrine falcon which nests on the Derby Cathedral (it was previously called the Derbyshire Scorpions until 2005 and the Phantoms until 2010). Minor Counties Of English And Welsh Cricket
The National Counties, known as the Minor Counties before 2020, are the cricketing counties of England and Wales that do not have first-class status. The game is administered by the National Counties Cricket Association (NCCA), which comes under the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). There are currently twenty teams in National Counties cricket: nineteen representing historic counties of England, plus the Wales National County Cricket Club. Of the 39 historic counties of England, 17 have a first-class county cricket team (the 18th first-class county is Glamorgan in Wales) and 18 participate in the National Counties championship.
