David Diao
David Diao (born 1943) is a Chinese American artist and teacher based in New York City. Background Diao 刁德谦 was born in Chengdu, in China. Several years of his childhood were spent in Hong Kong, at the moment of the revolution in October 1949, before he ultimately settled in the United States. His father was a student in the US and later became a structural engineer. He joined him in NY in 1955, being 12 years old. Career Diao completed his undergraduate degree at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio and in 1964 he moved back to New York. There he began working as an artist in the late 1960s. Firstly, he got the job as the sweeper-upper at the Kootz Gallery. Sam Kootz, the owner of this gallery, was among the first to show Abstract Expressionism. In 1966 he worked at the Guggenheim, where he installed shows in case some extra help was necessary. He first won acclaim and public attention with an exhibition at Paula Cooper Gallery in 1969. Diao Yinan (; born 1969 in Xi'an, Shaanxi) is a Chinese director, screenwriter and occasional actor. He won the Golden Bear for Best Film at the 2014 Berlin International Film Festival for the widely acclaimed Chinese neo-noir film ''Black Coal, Thin Ice''. Diao is considered a member of the sixth generation of Chinese film makers whose subject matter is focused on realism and stories of urban crime. Diao Guoxin
Diao Guoxin (; born October 1958) is a lieutenant general (''zhong jiang'') of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China. He served as Political Commissar of the Tibet Military District from 2012 to 2016. Biography Diao Guoxin was born in October 1958 in Taixing, Jiangsu Province. He enlisted in the PLA in February 1976, and joined the Communist Party of China in March 1979. He is a university graduate. In February 1979, Diao was transferred from the Nanjing Military Region to the 14th Group Army, and fought in the Sino-Vietnamese War. He also fought in the Battle of Koulinshan in May 1981 and the Battle of Laoshan in April 1984, during the subsequent Sino-Vietnamese conflicts. He was twice awarded for military valour.
