Diamniadio
Diamniadio is a town in Senegal. History Diamniadio is a part of the collective development program of the government of Senegal under the leadership of President Macky Sall to revitalize Senegal's economy. The development of the new city is taking place around 30 km from Dakar, close to the Blaise Diagne International Airport, which opened in December 2017. The Diamniadio Lake City is one of its suburbs. The idea behind the development is to ease the population pressure on Dakar. On completion, the new city will be connected to Dakar through a 32 km express highway, which will reduce the travel time from 90 minutes to an average of 30 minutes. After visiting in November 2017, the minister in charge of the project, Cheikh Kanté, described the site as "80% completed". Diamniadio Lake City
Diamniadio Lake City is a government approved futuristic township based in Diamniadio, Senegal. The township is conceptualized to ease the residential and commercial clutter in the capital of Dakar, which is currently the home to a quarter of the country’s 14 million people. History The Diamniadio Lake City is part of Macky Sall, President Macky Sall's plan to rebuild the city of Diamniadio and revitalize economy of Senegal. The project was approved in 2013 after Macky Sall became the President of Senegal in 2012. The development of the new city is taking place around 30 km from Dakar and it is close to the Blaise Diagne International Airport. The airport opened in December 2017. Although the project architectural design looks a lot like Akon City, Senegal, Akon City, they are not related in any kind, shape or form as stated by Semer Group. Train Express Regional
The Train Express Regional (TER) is airport rail link in Senegal that connects Dakar with the Blaise Diagne International Airport. It was built by French companies Engie and Thales Group. The contract is valued at €2 billion. History Construction on the TER began in the third quarter of 2016 and is expected to be fully completed at the end of 2023. The line will be built in two stages, with the first covering 36 km from the city of Dakar to Diamniadio, while the second stage covering 19 km more to the airport. The first phase of the line, running the 13 stations from Dakar to Diamniadio, was inaugurated on 27 December 2021. Before opening, protests were held by some Dakar citizens who felt they had not been sufficiently compensated by the government after their homes and businesses were demolished during the line's construction. Dakar Region (french: link=no, Région de Dakar) is the smallest and most populated Region of Senegal, encompassing the capital city of the country, Dakar, and all its suburbs along the Cap–Vert Peninsula, Africa's most westerly point. Rufisque Department is one of the 45 departments of Senegal and one of the four which make up the Dakar Region. Macky Sall
Macky Sall (, wo, Maki Sàll, fuc, 𞤃𞤢𞤳𞤭 𞤅𞤢𞤤, italic=no, Maki Sal; born 11 December 1961) is a Senegalese politician who has been President of Senegal since April 2012. He was re-elected President in the first round voting in February 2019. Under President Abdoulaye Wade, Sall was Prime Minister of Senegal from July 2004 to June 2007 and President of the National Assembly from June 2007 to November 2008. He was the Mayor of Fatick from 2002 to 2008 and held that post again from 2009 to 2012. Sall was a long-time member of the Senegalese Democratic Party (PDS). Blaise Diagne International Airport
Blaise Diagne International Airport (french: link=no, Aéroport international Blaise Diagne, ) is an international airport near the town of Diass in Thiès Region, Senegal, east of downtown Dakar. It serves as the main airport for Dakar, replacing Léopold Sédar Senghor International Airport, which had become too small. It is named after Blaise Diagne, the first black African elected to France's parliament in 1914. Regular flights are operated from it to destinations across many parts of Africa, as well as to Europe, Macaronesia, the Middle East, and the USA. Population pressure, a term summarizing the stress brought about by an excessive population density and its consequences, is used both in conjunction with human overpopulation and with other animal populations that suffer from too many individuals per area (or volume in the case of aquatic organisms).
