Dhabak
''Dhabak'' (Gujarati: ધબક) is a quarterly Gujarati language ghazal poetry journal published from Gujarat, India which is edited by Rashid Meer. It is dedicated to the growth and publicizing of Gujarati ghazal and its form. History ''Dhabak'' was founded in 1991 by Rashid Meer after the suggestion of Jayant Pathak, a Gujarati author. Pravin Darji suggested the name of the journal. Content ''Dhabak'' publishes ghazals, criticism and review of ghazal anthology, biography and interview of ghazal poets. It also publishes important articles on Urdu ghazal poets and their works. Rashid Meer
Rashid Meer (1 June 1950 – 11 May 2021) was a Gujarati language, Gujarati ghazal poet, critic, editor and researcher from India. He was a founder editor of ''Dhabak'', a Gujarati ghazal poetry journal. He received his Ph.D. His significant works include ''Saat Suka Pandada'' (1993), ''Ghazal Nu Pariprekshya'' (1995), ''Thes'' (1998) and ''Adhakhula Dhwar'' (1999). The Indian National Theater, Mumbai conferred the Shayda Award (2003) on him for his contributions to Gujarati ghazal poetry. Biography Meer was born in Thasra, a village in Padal of Kheda district to Kamaluddin Meer and Halima Meer. He completed his S.S.C. in 1968 from Sharada Mandir High School, Menpura. He completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1973 at Arts and Commerce College, Balasinor and Master of Arts in 1975 from C. B. ''Gazalvishwa'' (Gujarati: ગઝલવિશ્વ) is a quarterly Gujarati ghazal poetry journal, published by Vali Gujarati Gazal Kendra from Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India since 2006. The journal publishes ghazals, ghazal reviews, critical works and interviews of ghazal poets. History In 2006, The Vali Gujarati Ghazal Kendra was founded for the promotion of Gujarati Ghazal as a literary form of expression and a magazine was also started under its aegis. Pravin Darji
Pravin Darji is Gujarati essayist, poet, critic and editor from India. ''Spand'' (1976), ''Charvana'' (1976), ''Dayarama'' (1978) and ''Pratyagra'' (1978) are some of his known works. He was awarded Padma Shri in 2011. Life Pravin Darji was born on 23 August 1944 in Mahelol village in Panchmahal district of Gujarat, India. He completed SSC in 1961 and BA in Gujarati and Sanskrit in 1965. He completed MA in 1967 from Gujarat University and PhD in 1973. He taught Gujarati in Arts College in Modasa from 1965 to 1967. He joined Lunavada College as a Professor in 1967 and served there until his retirement. He served as a chairman of the University Book Production Board for a year. He briefly edited ''Shabdashrishti'', a literary magazine of Gujarat Sahitya Akademi. Pravin Darji married Ramila and they have two daughters and a son. ''Kavilok'' (Gujarati language, Gujarati: કવિલોક), a publication of Kavilok Trust, is a Gujarati language bimonthly poetry journal published in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. The current editor is Dhiru Parikh and co-editor is Praful Raval. History The Kavilok poetry journal was founded by Rajendra Shah (author), Rajendra Shah in 1957. The first issue of the journal was published in Mumbai in crown size under the editorship of Rajendra Shah, Suresh Dalal and Jashubhai Shah. From the 32nd issue, Jayant Parekh replaced Jashubhai Shah as an editor. From the 37th to the 66th issue, Priyakant Maniar served as editor with Jayant Parekh. In January 1970, the 73rd issue was published in Ahmedabad in foolscap size. The editors were Bachubhai Ravat and Rajendra Shah. Jayant Pathak
Jayant Himmatlal Pathak (20 October 1920 – 1 September 2003) was a Gujarati poet and literary critic from Gujarat, India. He was the president of the Gujarati Sahitya Parishad from 1990 – 1991. He received several awards, including the Sahitya Akademi Award, the Kumar Suvarna Chandrak, the Narmad Suvarna Chandrak, the Ranjitram Suvarna Chandrak and the Uma-Snehrashmi Prize. The Jayant Pathak Poetry Award is named after him. Early life Pathak was born into a Gauda Brahmins family on 20 October 1920, at Goth, a village now in the Rajgadh taluka of Panchmahal district, Gujarat, India, to Ichchhaba and Himmatram Joitaram Pathak. Ghazal
The ''ghazal'' ( ar, غَزَل, bn, গজল, Hindi-Urdu: /, fa, غزل, az, qəzəl, tr, gazel, tm, gazal, uz, gʻazal, gu, ગઝલ) is a form of amatory poem or ode, originating in Arabic poetry. A ghazal may be understood as a poetic expression of both the pain of loss or separation and the beauty of love in spite of that pain. The ghazal form is ancient, tracing its origins to 7th-century Arabic poetry.
