Devon Cooper
Devon Cooper (born 2001) is a female English international outdoor and indoor bowler. Bowls career Cooper won the English Junior National pairs title in 2018 and was runner-up the following year, bowling for Hertfordshire. Also in 2019, bowling with her pairs partner Rachael Tremlett, she won the 2019 British Isles Junior Pairs Championship and was subsequently nominated for the Bowls England Junior Woman Bowler of the Year. In 2019, she was called up to make her English international debut for the BIWBC International Series and won two bronze medals at the European Bowls Championships. Indoors, she became the youngest ever national pairs winner in 2016 and made her debut at the World Championships during the 2020 World Indoor Bowls Championship. During the 2021 World Indoor Bowls Championship, she reached the women's singles semi finals after defeating the defending champion Julie Forrest in the first round. European Bowls Championships
The European Bowls Championship formerly the European Bowls Team Championships is a biennial continental lawn bowls tournament for European nations. From its inauguration in 1997 until September 2021, the tournament was organised by the European Bowls Union (EBU). In September 2021, the members of what was the "European Bowls Union" (E.B.U.) voted unanimously, to rebrand and be replaced by the newly formed, limited company, Bowls Europe Ltd (registered in Scotland). The competition now features the traditional four disciplines of singles, pairs, triples and fours. 2020 World Indoor Bowls Championship
The 2020 Just World Indoor Bowls Championship was held at Potters Leisure Resort, Hopton-on-Sea, Great Yarmouth, England, from 9–26 January 2020. The event was organised by the World Bowls Tour and televised by the BBC. In the Open Singles, all 16 seeds progressed to round two, which last happened in 2009 but the top four seeds failed to make the semi final stage. Nick Brett progressed to the final and was attempting to become the first player in the history of the competition to achieve the treble of open singles, open pairs and mixed pairs during the same year. His opponent Robert Paxton (in his third career open singles final) started well in the first set before Brett took control of the set, winning it 10–7. Paxton deservedly took the second set 8-7 despite a late Brett comeback which forced the match into a tie break. 2021 World Indoor Bowls Championship
The 2021 Just World Indoor Bowls Championship took place at Potters Leisure Resort, Hopton-on-Sea, Great Yarmouth, England, from 8–24 January 2021. The event was organised by the World Bowls Tour, televised by the BBC and streamed live on YouTube. The event was played behind closed doors and there was no under-25 competition due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a consequence of the pandemic there were no overseas players involved. A fairer system was devised in the Open pairs whereby all competitors would face a first round match and there would be no byes. Late changes had to be made to the draw, with world number one and 2nd seed Nick Brett unable to participate because he broke his arm following an accident playing golf. Scottish 11th seed Darren Burnett also pulled out through injury, while Colin Walker, Ian Honnor and Caroline Brown withdrew for personal reasons. Brown was replaced by Rebecca Willgress. Julie Forrest
Julie Forrest (born 3 November 1968) is a Scottish bowls player. Bowls career Outdoors Julie has won three World Outdoor medals, a silver medal in the fours at the 2000 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Johannesburg and two bronze medals as part of the Scottish team that competed in the Taylor Trophy. She also competed at the 1996, 2000 and 2016. She was selected to represent Scotland at the Commonwealth Games in 1998 and also won the Scottish National Bowls Championships pairs title in 1988 and triples title in 1997 bowling for Hawick. Indoors Most of her success has come indoors with her most significant wins being the two women's singles titles at the 2019 World Indoor Bowls Championship (defeating Alison Merrien in the final) and the 2020 World Indoor Bowls Championship.
