Julie Forrest
Julie Forrest (born 3 November 1968) is a Scottish bowls player. Bowls career Outdoors Julie has won three World Outdoor medals, a silver medal in the fours at the 2000 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Johannesburg and two bronze medals as part of the Scottish team that competed in the Taylor Trophy. She also competed at the 1996, 2000 and 2016. She was selected to represent Scotland at the Commonwealth Games in 1998 and also won the Scottish National Bowls Championships pairs title in 1988 and triples title in 1997 bowling for Hawick. Indoors Most of her success has come indoors with her most significant wins being the two women's singles titles at the 2019 World Indoor Bowls Championship (defeating Alison Merrien in the final) and the 2020 World Indoor Bowls Championship. Siti Zalina Ahmad
Siti Zalina Ahmad (born 2 June 1979) is a Malaysian international lawn bowler. Bowls career Siti Zalina Ahmad is from Perak, in Malaysia and is one of only two women to have won two Commonwealth Games singles Gold medals. After watching a game of hockey in 1995 she saw a lawn bowls match and decided to take up the sport. Commonwealth Games The first title came in 2002 when she won the Commonwealth Games Singles Gold medal in Manchester and four years later she successfully defended her title winning the Commonwealth Games Singles Gold medal in Melbourne. In the 2010 Commonwealth Games she won her qualifying group with a perfect 10-0 win record and 20-0 set record before losing to Natalie Melmore in the semi-finals bringing her eight-year reign as champion to an end. Stewart Anderson (bowls)
Stewart Anderson (born 23 July 1985) is a Scottish international bowls player and a world champion indoors. Bowls career He started bowling aged just 12 with Auchinleck Indoor Juniors and outdoor with Glaisnock Valley. Having previously been a beaten finalist in the 2010 World Championships (where he lost out to Greg Harlow) Anderson beat Paul Foster in the final match that ended 10-10, 10-9 to secure the 2013 World indoor title. In 2015 he won the triples gold medal at the Atlantic Bowls Championships. During the 2016 World Indoor Bowls Championship Anderson partnered up with Darren Burnett and the Scottish pair recorded their first Open Pairs title success. In 2018 he won the Scottish International Open. Later that season, Anderson became a two-time World Open singles champion, winning the 2019 World Indoor Bowls Championship. The 2016 Just Retirement World Indoor Bowls Championship was held at Potters Leisure Resort, Hopton on Sea, Great Yarmouth, England, from 08-24 January 2016.Nick Brett won the blue riband event (the Men's Singles) for the first time after beating Robert Paxton in a competitive final. Alison Merrien
Alison Jayne Merrien (born 28 November 1974) is an indoor bowls player from Saint Peter Port, Guernsey. Bowls career Indoors Merrien won double gold in the women's singles defeating Karen Murphy and the mixed pairs with Simon Skelton the 2011 World Indoor Bowls Championship. She won a third medal eight years later in 2019 losing out to Julie Forrest of Scotland in the final. In 2022, she finally claimed a third title when winning the mixed pairs with Paul Foster and also reached the women's singles final. In the southern hemisphere equivalent the World Cup Singles she has won two titles in 2008 and 2012 and has finished runner up on three more occasions. In 2022, Merrien won the mixed pairs at the inaugural World Bowls Indoor Championships, partnering Stewart Anderson, they defeated Michael Stepney and Claire Anderson in the final. The Scottish National Bowls Championships is one of the oldest bowls competitions in the world. Commonwealth Games
The Commonwealth Games, often referred to as the Friendly Games or simply the Comm Games, are a quadrennial international multi-sport event among athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations.
