Deutschfreiheitliche Partei
The Deutschfreiheitliche Partei (in English, German Freedom Party, in Italian Partito Libertario Tedesco) was a political party active in Tyrol at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. It had a Liberal national orientation. It originated in 1880 from a section of the German Liberal Party, which was active across Austria. This new party, however, was only active in the County of Tyrol. Among the major leasers of the party were Julius Perathoner, burgomaster of Bolzano from 1895 to 1922. German nationalism (german: Deutschnationalismus) is a political ideology and historical current in Austrian politics. It arose in the 19th century as a nationalist movement amongst the German-speaking population of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It favours close ties with Germany, which it views as the nation-state for all ethnic Germans, and the possibility of the incorporation of Austria into a Greater Germany. Over the course of Austrian history, from the Austrian Empire, to Austria-Hungary, and the First and the Second Austrian Republics, several political parties and groups have expressed pan-German nationalist sentiment. The Greater German People's Party (German ''Großdeutsche Volkspartei'', abbreviated GDVP) was a German nationalist and national liberal political party during the First Republic of Austria, established in 1920. Foundation After World War I and the dissolution of Austria-Hungary, the German nationalist and "German-Liberal" camp, which was fragmented into many splinter parties and factions, formed the largest group in the Provisional National Assembly of German Austria with 102 representatives, ahead of the Socialists and the Catholic Christian Socials.
