Deus-X
''Deus-X'' is a 1994 horror novel written by Joe Citro. Of all his novels, Citro has repeatedly described it as being his darkest and most intricate. The idea for the book came from Citro's love for and fascination with the occult and paranormal. After researching and documenting countless ghost stories, UFO sightings, and general accounts of strange activity, Citro was struck by how interesting it would be if all these various phenomena were linked somehow. Further inspiration came from the Firesign Theatre album, "Everything You Know is Wrong." Citro found himself chilled by those words and sought to write a story which exposed everything we thought to be true as devious manipulations. The story ties together UFOs, government conspiracies, demonic possession, and Virgin Mary sightings, all with H. P. Lovecraft sensibilities. Joe Citro
Joseph A. Citro is a Vermont author and folklorist who has extensively researched and documented the folklore, hauntings, ghost stories, paranormal activity and occult happenings of New England. Early life and education Citro was born in Rutland, Vermont. He grew up in Chester, Vermont, lived in Underhill, Vermont, and lives in Windsor, Vermont. His father was a machinist and storyteller, telling tales of the people and natural world of Vermont, and his mother encouraged his love of reading. As a child he wrote short stories and comic books. He graduated from Keene State College with a BA in English in 1971. He worked for the state's Department of Education and the Department of Human Service until 1983 designing vocational educational programs for people with developmental disabilities. Occult
The occult, in the broadest sense, is a category of esoteric supernatural beliefs and practices which generally fall outside the scope of religion and science, encompassing phenomena involving otherworldly agency, such as magic and mysticism and their varied spells. Firesign Theatre
The Firesign Theatre (also known as the Firesigns) was an American surreal comedy troupe who first appeared on November 17, 1966, in a live performance on the Los Angeles radio program ''Radio Free Oz'' on station KPFK FM. They continued appearing on ''Radio Free Oz'', which later moved to KRLA 1110 AM and then KMET FM, through February 1969. They produced fifteen record albums and a 45 rpm single under contract to Columbia Records from 1967 through 1976, and had three nationally syndicated radio programs: ''The Firesign Theatre Radio Hour Hour'' icin 1970 on KPPC-FM; and '' Dear Friends'' (1970–1971) and ''Let's Eat!'' UFOs
