Destry (1954)
''Destry'' is a 1954 American western film directed by George Marshall and starring Audie Murphy, Mari Blanchard, Lyle Bettger and Thomas Mitchell. This, the third film to utilise the title character of Max Brand's novel ''Destry Rides Again'', is a color remake of the black-&-white 1939 Marlene Dietrich and James Stewart film version. Indeed, ''Halliwell's Film Guide'' calls it an "almost scene-for-scene remake." Both films were directed by George Marshall and have a plot bearing no resemblance to Brand's novel or the original 1932 film adaptation. A film poster is a poster used to promote and advertise a film primarily to persuade paying customers into a theater to see it. Richard Jourdan Reeves (August 10, 1912 – March 17, 1967) was an American character actor best known for playing henchmen and thugs. He performed in hundreds of film and television roles between the 1940s and 1960s. Early life and film career Richard Jourdan Reeves grew up in an affluent section of Queens, New York, the elder of two children of bank executive Walter Reeves and his wife, the former Marie Titsink. He studied music in school; and then, at the age of 18, he worked as a seaman, spending much of his time in the 1930s aboard ships that plied the New York-Havana route. In April 1942, shortly after the United States entered World War II, Reeves enlisted in the U.S. Army and by war's end had risen to the rank of sergeant in the 1208 Service Command Unit. Trevor Bardette (born Terva Gaston Hubbard; November 19, 1902 – November 28, 1977) was an American film and television actor. Among many other roles in his long and prolific career, Bardette appeared in several episodes of '' Adventures of Superman'' and as Newman Haynes Clanton, or Old Man Clanton, in 21 episodes of the ABC/Desilu western series, ''The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp.'' ''Destry Rides Again'' is a 1932 American pre-Code Western movie starring Tom Mix and directed by Benjamin Stoloff, about a man framed for a crime he didn't commit, who returns to wreak havoc following his release from prison. The film was based on a novel by Max Brand. The supporting cast includes Claudia Dell, ZaSu Pitts, and Francis Ford. The film has sometimes been retitled ''Justice Rides Again'' for television broadcasts, to avoid confusion with the 1939 film of the same name, with Marlene Dietrich and James Stewart. ''Destry Rides Again'' is a 1939 American Western comedy film directed by George Marshall and starring Marlene Dietrich and James Stewart. The supporting cast includes Mischa Auer, Charles Winninger, Brian Donlevy, Allen Jenkins, Irene Hervey, Billy Gilbert, Bill Cody Jr., Lillian Yarbo, and Una Merkel. Technicolor is a series of Color motion picture film, color motion picture processes, the first version dating back to 1916, and followed by improved versions over several decades.
