Derthona Basket, known for sponsorship reasons as Bertram Derthona Tortona, is an Italian professional basketball team of the city of Tortona, in the province of Alessandria, Piedmont. The team has achieved the promotion to the Lega Basket Serie A (LBA) after the end of the 2020–21 season of the Serie A2 Basket. History 1955–2014: Decades within minor leagues Derthona Basket was founded in 1955 in Tortona, a small town near Alessandria; however the club was later dissolved in 1962, only four years after obtaining the affiliation with the Italian Basketball Federation (FIP). In 1965, Derthona was refounded within the newly formed multisport club of the town. After decades in the minor leagues, in 2008, Tortona signed the Macedonian point guard, Petar Naumoski. With the Macedonian champion, the team achieved the promotion to Serie C1, ending the season unbeaten. Pallacanestro Trieste 2004 is an Italian professional basketball club based in Trieste. They play in the Lega Basket Serie A (LBA) since the 2018–19 season. Ariel Filloy (born March 11, 1987) is an Argentine-Italian professional basketball player for Derthona Basket of the Italian Lega Basket Serie A (LBA). He also plays for the Italian national basketball team. Professional career After a period in the second league of the Italian basketball league system, with Dinamo Sassari and Basket Rimini Crabs, he began his Italian LBA experience in 2008, when Armani Jeans Milano offered him a contract until 2012. Mike Daum (born October 30, 1995) is an American professional basketball player for Derthona Basket of the Italian Lega Basket Serie A (LBA). He played college basketball for South Dakota State University. A power forward, Daum was named the Summit League Player of the Year three times. College career Daum came to South Dakota State from small town Kimball, Nebraska in 2014. Tyler Cain (born June 30, 1988) is an American basketball player for Derthona Basket of the Italian Lega Basket Serie A (LBA). He played college basketball for the University of South Dakota (USD). He is best known for being the inaugural winner of the Great West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year award in 2009–10, the conference's first as a Division I basketball league. Jalen Cannon (born May 5, 1993) is an American basketball player for Vanoli Cremona of the Italian Serie A2. Cannon is in his seventh season as a professional and second with Derthona Basket.
