Derrek Leon Lee (born September 6, 1975), nicknamed "D-Lee", is an American former professional baseball first baseman. Lee played with the San Diego Padres, Florida Marlins, Chicago Cubs, Atlanta Braves, Baltimore Orioles and Pittsburgh Pirates of Major League Baseball (MLB). Lee was a World Series champion with the Marlins in 2003, and he won the National League batting title in 2005. He was a two-time All-Star selection, and won the Gold Glove Award three times. Derek Gerald Lee (born July 28, 1966) is a retired Major League Baseball outfielder who appeared in 15 games for the Minnesota Twins during the 1993 season. Listed at 6' 1", 200 lb., Lee batted left-handed and threw right-handed. He was born in Chicago, Illinois. Lee played for the State College of Florida and the University of South Florida and was drafted by four teams from 1985–1987, but did not sign with any of them. In 1986, he played collegiate summer baseball for the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL). In 1987, he returned to the CCBL and played for the Harwich Mariners, hitting a key game-winning home run in the league championship series to help Harwich to the league title. Lee finally signed with the Chicago White Sox after being selected in the 1988 MLB Draft. Derek Vincent Lee (born October 2, 1948) is a Canadian former politician. From 1988 to 2011 he was the Liberal Member of Parliament for the riding of Scarborough—Rouge River. Background Lee was born in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. His father was an RCMP officer. He attended Neil McNeil High School and graduated in 1966. Before entering politics, he was a political assistant to Federal MP Paul Cosgrove in 1982 and also Ontario Housing Minister Alvin Curling in 1985. Derek Lee (also known as Derek E. Lee or Derek Edward Lee) is an American ecologist and wildlife biologist specializing in population biology and conservation biology. Lee was born in Lodi, California on March 15, 1971, and attended Tokay High School. Lee earned his bachelor's degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara, his master's degree from Humboldt State University, and his Ph.D. from Dartmouth College. For his MS degree he investigated the migratory behavior of black brant geese in Humboldt Bay using capture-recapture statistics to estimate stopover duration and space use. For his Ph.D., he studied the spatial demography of giraffes in the Tarangire ecosystem of Tanzania. His academic work on climate influences on marine bird demography, spotted owls and forest fire, and computer vision applications to wildlife biology are highly cited. Derek Lee Shelton (born July 30, 1970) is an American professional baseball coach and former catcher. He is the current manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates of Major League Baseball (MLB). Shelton has spent the last 15 years as a coach in some capacity at the Major League level. Shelton was the hitting coach for the Cleveland Indians from 2005 until 2009, and the Tampa Bay Rays from 2010 until 2016.
