Derbyshire County Cricket Club in 1993 was the cricket season when the English club Derbyshire won the Benson & Hedges Cup. The club had been playing for one hundred and twenty-two years. In the County Championship, they won four matches to finish fifteenth in their ninetieth season in the Championship. They were eliminated in round two of the National Westminster Bank Trophy and came eleventh in the AXA Equity and Law League. 1993 season Derbyshire played seventeen matches in the County Championship, one against Cambridge University, and one against the touring Australians. They won four first class matches overall, drawing in the non-championship games. They won seven matches in the Sunday league. Kim Barnett was in his tenth season as captain. This is a list of seasons played by Derbyshire County Cricket Club in English cricket, from the club's formation in 1870. Early years 1871–1887 Derbyshire played their first matches in 1871. For the first three years their only opponents were Lancashire. When Kent joined in 1874, by a quirk of scoring which was based on games lost, they were County Champion. The club was bedevilled by financial problems, and in 1888 the sporting press decided no longer to accord them first class status. Wilderness years 1888–1893 From 1888 Derbyshire's matches were not accorded first class status. Adrian Rollins
Adrian Rollins (born 8 February 1972) is an English cricketer who played for Derbyshire County Cricket Club, Derbyshire from 1993 to 1999 and for Northamptonshire County Cricket Club, Northamptonshire from 2000 to 2002. He was a right-handed batsman (cricket), batsman and a right-arm Seam bowling, medium-pace bowler. An imposing presence, measuring 6 ft 5 in and weighing around sixteen stone, Rollins made his debut for Derbyshire as an emergency wicket-keeper in the absence of teammates Bernie Maher and Karl Krikken, making him possibly the tallest wicket-keeper in first-class cricket history. Rollins became the 500th first-class cricketer for the Derbyshire team, as well as the 100th to make a first-class century, following his milestone innings with a hugely impressive innings of 200 in nine hours, the single longest innings in Derbyshire's history. Lancashire County Cricket Club represents the historic county of Lancashire in English cricket. The club has held first-class status since it was founded in 1864. Lancashire's home is Old Trafford Cricket Ground, although the team also play matches at other grounds around the county. Hampshire teams formed by earlier organisations, principally the Hambledon Club, always had first-class status and the same applied to the county club when it was founded in 1863. Essex County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Essex. Founded in 1876, the club had minor county status until 1894 when it was promoted to first-class status pending its entry into the County Championship in 1895, since then the team has played in every top-level domestic cricket competition in England. Glamorgan County Cricket Club ( cy, Criced Morgannwg) is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Glamorgan ( cy, Morgannwg). Founded in 1888, Glamorgan held minor status at first and was a prominent member of the early Minor Counties Championship before the First World War. In 1921, the club joined the County Championship and the team was elevated to first-class status, subsequently playing in every top-level domestic cricket competition in England and Wales.
