Der W
Stephan Weidner (born 29 May 1963), also known as Der W, is a German musician, songwriter and producer. From 1980 to 2005, he was the bassist, songwriter and leader of the German rock band Böhse Onkelz. He was also a singer with Nordend Antistars, a collaboration with Sub7even singer Daniel Wirtz. In April 2008, Weidner's first solo album ''Schneller, Höher, Weidner'' was released. Early life Weidner was raised by his father Tex Weidner with two half brothers and two sisters in an impoverished family. Conflicts with a school principal resulted in Weidner being banned from school. His father then moved the family to Hösbach near Aschaffenburg in Bavaria. Alsfeld () is a town in the center of Hesse, in Germany. Located about north of Frankfurt, Alsfeld is in the center of Hesse and part of the densely populated Frankfurt Rhine-Main Metropolitan Region. Skew Siskin are a German hard rock band based in Berlin. They formed in 1990 when guitarist Jim Voxx met up with singer Nina C. Alice. The band's original line up was completed by the addition of drummer Nik Terry and bass guitarist Jogi Rautenberg. The band's name translated into English means "Crazy Bird"; Nina C. Alice chose the name as due to spending time living in Britain knew that "bird" there is often colloquially used to refer to women. They signed up with Giant Records in 1992, under whose label they released their debut album, the self-titled '' Skew Siskin'', in 1992. D-A-D is a Danish rock band. They were originally named Disneyland After Dark, but changed their name to avoid a lawsuit from The Walt Disney Company. History In the early 1980s in Copenhagen, D-A-D started playing together under their original name ''Disneyland After Dark''. Pedersen came up with the name based on the idea that when the lights are out in Disneyland, anything can happen. The first lineup of D-A-D consisted of Jesper, Stig, Peter and Stig's girlfriend, Lene Glumer. The band's debut concert was at the youth club Sundby Algaard. Dance 2 Trance were a German techno duo composed of Rolf Ellmer and DJ Dag Lerner. They had a small number of hit singles in the mid-1990s and were associated with Jam & Spoon. History Musical career DJ Dag and Jam El Mar met in 1990, when they decided to work together. Their first release was in the same year, a promo named "Dance 2 Trance" on the Suck Me Plasma label, the release contained two tracks ("Dance 2 Trance" and "We Came In Peace"). They got their commercial break in 1992 with the release of " Power of American Natives" with vocals from Linda Rocco. The song sold 250,000 records and was awarded a gold disc. The 2006 FIFA World Cup, also branded as Germany 2006, was the 18th FIFA World Cup, the quadrennial international football world championship tournament. It was held from 9 June to 9 July 2006 in Germany, which had won the right to host the event in July 2000. Die Toten Hosen (literally "The Dead Trousers", figuratively "The Deadbeats") is a German punk rock band from Düsseldorf. History The current members of Die Toten Hosen are Campino (Andreas Frege), Kuddel (Andreas von Holst), Vom (Stephen Ritchie), Andi (Andreas Meurer) and Breiti (Michael Breitkopf). All members except one are German, though Campino's mother, Jenny, was English. The drummer Vom comes from England. He joined in 1999, after previous drummer Wölli sustained injuries in a car crash. Wölli had played from 1985 to 1999 and was an honorary member of the band until his death in 2016. The drummer until 1985 was Trini Trimpop, who became the band's manager when Wölli joined. Andreas Frege (born 22 June 1962), known professionally as Campino, is a German-British singer, best known as the lead vocalist of Die Toten Hosen, a German punk rock band. Biography Campino was born in Düsseldorf and is a descendant of the Frege family who owned the (Frege House) in Leipzig. His grandfather Ludwig Frege was the president of the Federal Administrative Court of Germany. He grew up as the son of a judge and a teacher. His mother was English, and raised her children to be bilingual. He has five siblings including his older brother John, who introduced him to punk music.
