The Deputy Prime Minister of Solomon Islands is the Solomon Islands' secondary Head of Government appointed by the Prime Minister of the Solomon Islands. Since 1 November 2019, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Solomon Islands has been Manasseh Maelanga MP. He has previously served as Deputy Prime Minister from 27 August 2010 to 11 November 2011 and from 22 November 2011 to 8th September 2014. Manasseh Maelanga (born March 25, 1970) is a member of the National Parliament of the Solomon Islands. He represents East Malaita constituency. In May 2009, he was named Minister for Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening in Prime Minister Derek Sikua's government. Solomon Islands is an island country consisting of six major islands and over 900 smaller islands in Oceania, to the east of Papua New Guinea and north-west of Vanuatu. It has a land area of , and a population of approx. 700,000. Its capital, Honiara, is located on the largest island, Guadalcanal.
