2022 World Athletics Championships – Men's Hammer Throw
The men's hammer throw at the 2022 World Athletics Championships was held at the Hayward Field in Eugene on 15 and 16 July 2022. Summary Back in 2011, Paweł Fajdek finished 11th and last in the final. Since then, the results have been the same, Paweł Fajdek World Champion. He was back for another spin. In the first round, Rudy Winkler was the first to throw over 78 with a 78.91m. Quentin Bigot threw 79.52m to take the lead and Bence Halász was in second with 79.12m. Seven throwers were over 77 metres while Fajdek only managed 74.71m to find himself in a non-qualifying 9th place. Leading off the second round, Olympic Champion and World Leader Wojciech Nowicki threw 80.07m to take the lead. Then Fajdek put one out to 80.58m, that's more like it. 2022 World Athletics Championships
The 2022 World Athletics Championships was the eighteenth edition of the World Athletics Championships. It was held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, United States, from July 15–24, 2022, with the country hosting that competition for the first time. The competition was originally scheduled for August 6–15, 2021, but it was postponed by one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, World Athletics banned all Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials from participating at the championships. In addition, the stringent vaccination requirements for people entering the United States caused visa delays for participants and officials, with some ultimately being unable to enter the country. These issues caused the final total to stand at 179 nations (180 including the Athlete Refugee Team), the lowest number since Tokyo 1991. The men's shot put at the 2019 World Athletics Championships was held at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha from 3 to 5 October 2019. Summary It took 20.90 to automatically qualify. Exactly 12 men made that distance, eight of them on their first attempt. There were no further place qualifiers to the final. This was the cap to a build up of several strong athletes. The 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships () was the seventeenth edition of the biennial, global athletics competition organised by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), since renamed World Athletics. The 2018 European Athletics Championships were held in Berlin, Germany, from 6 to 12 August 2018. The championships were part of the first European Championships with other events happening in the United Kingdom. For the second Championships in a row the Russian team did not participate; this was due to the suspension of the All-Russia Athletic Federation by the International Association of Athletics Federations.
