Denys Shmyhal
Denys Anatoliyovych Shmyhal ( uk, Денис Анатолійович Шмигаль; born 15 October 1975) is a Ukrainian politician and entrepreneur who is the current Prime Minister of Ukraine since 2020. Prior to his appointment as prime minister, Shmyhal was the governor of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast and an acting vice prime minister in the Honcharuk Government. As a Prime Minister, Shmyhal has been in charge of handling the response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Ukraine. Biography Shmyhal’s parents are Anatoly Ivanovich and Irina Feliksovna. In 1997, Shmyhal graduated from the Lviv Polytechnic. He holds the title of Candidate of Economic Sciences (2003). From his graduation in 1997 until September 2005, Shmyhal worked as an accountant in various companies. Shmyhal Government
The Shmyhal government ( uk, Уряд Дениса Шмигаля) is the current government of Ukraine, formed on 4 March 2020 and led by Denys Shmyhal, who was previously acting vice prime minister, and earlier the Governor of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast. History President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's first government was the Honcharuk Government, formed after the 2019 Ukrainian parliamentary election. However, Zelenskyy was dissatisfied with the government due to high ministerial salaries and poor performance. On 3 March 2020, Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk tendered his resignation, and by law this triggered the automatic resignation of the Honcharuk Government. In his 4 March 2020 address to the parliament, Zelenskyy expressed his hope for a stronger government, and that day Honcharuk was dismissed by the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine's parliament) and Denys Shmyhal was appointed prime minister.

Oleh Mykolayovych Nemchinov ( uk, Олег Миколайович Немчінов; born 1 May 1977) is a Ukrainian civil servant and politician. On 4 March 2020, he was appointed as the Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers. Biography Nemchinov studied at the University of Lviv (1999). He graduated from the Ternopil National Economic University (2003). Candidate of Sciences in Public Administration. From 1999 to 2002, he worked at the Lviv City Council. From 2009 to 2010, he also worked in the Lviv Regional State Administration. It is there where he met and worked with future Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal. COVID-19 Pandemic In Ukraine
The COVID-19 pandemic in Ukraine has resulted in confirmed cases of COVID-19 and deaths. The virus was confirmed to have spread to Ukraine when the country's first case was confirmed to be hospitalized in Chernivtsi Oblast on 3 March 2020, a man who had travelled from Italy to Romania by plane and then arrived in Ukraine by car. An emergency was declared on 20 March 2020 in Kyiv Oblast, Chernivtsi Oblast, Zhytomyr Oblast, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, and the city of Kyiv. New infections and deaths started to break records by late October 2021. By then, a total of 2.8 million coronavirus cases and 64,936 COVID-19 related deaths had occurred in Ukraine. Ukraine's ongoing vaccination program started on 24 February 2021 and from that day to 12 September 2021, 10,710,944 vaccinations were given in Ukraine (meaning 18% of the adult population of Ukraine had been vaccinated against COVID-19).
