Denny Walley
Denny Walley is an American guitarist who was born in Pennsylvania 4 February 1943. He is known for working with Frank Zappa in the 1970s and '80s. Career Denny Walley spent much of his childhood in New York City before his family moved to Lancaster, California, in 1955 where he met Frank Zappa. Denny Walley has played with many bands over the years and is best known for his work with Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention and Captain Beefheart's Magic Band. He also played briefly with in 1972. ''Shut Up 'n Play Yer Guitar'', a project consisting of ''Shut Up 'n Play Yer Guitar'', ''Shut Up 'n Play Yer Guitar Some More'' and ''Return of the Son of Shut Up 'n Play Yer Guitar'', is a series of albums by Frank Zappa. The albums consist solely of electric guitar instrumentals and improvised solos played by Zappa and featuring a wide variety of backing musicians. The music was well received by critics, and Zappa subsequently produced additional albums focusing solely on guitar-oriented instrumental music. The albums were initially released as individual LPs in May 1981 on Barking Pumpkin Records and sold only through mail order in the United States. Accordion
Accordions (from 19th-century German ''Akkordeon'', from ''Akkord''—"musical chord, concord of sounds") are a family of box-shaped musical instruments of the bellows-driven free-reed aerophone type (producing sound as air flows past a reed in a frame), colloquially referred to as a squeezebox. A person who plays the accordion is called an accordionist. The concertina , harmoneon and bandoneón are related. The harmonium and American reed organ are in the same family, but are typically larger than an accordion and sit on a surface or the floor. ''Bat Chain Puller'' is the 13th studio album (and first official posthumous album) by Captain Beefheart, released on February 22, 2012. It was recorded in 1976 by DiscReet Records, who had intended to release it with Virgin Records as Captain Beefheart's tenth studio album. It was co-produced by Beefheart and Kerry McNab. The album was a subject of friction between DiscReet cofounders Herb Cohen and Frank Zappa. Cohen had used Zappa's royalty checks to fund the album's production, and this led Zappa to withhold the master tapes from Virgin. Beefheart recorded a new album for Warner Bros., ''Shiny Beast (Bat Chain Puller)'', with no involvement from Cohen or Zappa. Released posthumously in 2006, 13 years after the musician's death, the album forms the third in a trilogy of instrumental albums which focus on Zappa's improvised guitar solos, after ''Shut Up 'n Play Yer Guitar'' (1981) and ''Guitar'' (1988). ''Trance-Fusion'' was among the last albums completed by Zappa before his death, along with ''The Rage & The Fury: The Music Of Edgard Varèse'', '' Dance Me This'' and ''Civilization Phaze III''. It was billed as a cast recording for a proposed musical of the same name, which was ultimately not produced by Zappa, but later performed partially in 2003, ten years after his death. The album's storyline is inspired by Broadway theatre, AIDS, eugenics, conspiracy theories, feminism, homosexuality and African American culture.
