Denis Chalifoux (MNA)
Denis Chalifoux (born November 9, 1955) is a Quebec politician. He was a member of the National Assembly of Quebec from 2007 to 2008. He was elected in a by-election in Bertrand for the Quebec Liberal Party on October 6, 1997. However, he was defeated in the 2008 Quebec election. He was a city councillor in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts is a town in the province of Quebec, Canada, in the regional county municipality of Les Laurentides in the administrative region of Laurentides, also known as the "Laurentians" or the Laurentian Mountains (in English). Legislators are called MNAs (Members of the National Assembly; french: link=no, députés). Bertrand (electoral District)
Bertrand is a provincial electoral district in the Lanaudière and Laurentides regions of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It is not to be confused with the former, entirely different Bertrand electoral district located in the Montérégie region, which existed from 1981 to 1994; they used the same name but otherwise have nothing in common. It was created for the 1994 election from parts of Labelle, Prévost and Rousseau. It notably includes the municipalities of Saint-Adele, Rawdon and Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts. In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, it lost Chertsey and Saint-Hippolyte to Rousseau electoral district and gained Prévost from Prévost electoral district, which became defunct. In the change from the 2011 to 2017 electoral map, the riding will lose Piedmont, Prévost, Sainte-Anne-des-Lacs, Saint-Sauveur to the new riding of Prévost and will gain Chertsey and Rawdon from Rousseau. The Quebec Liberal Party (QLP; french: Parti libéral du Québec, PLQ) is a provincial political party in Quebec. It has been independent of the federal Liberal Party of Canada since 1955. The QLP has always been associated with the colour red; each of their main opponents in different eras have been generally associated with the colour blue. 2008 Quebec General Election
The 2008 Quebec general election was held in the Canada, Canadian Provinces and territories of Canada, province of Quebec on December 8, 2008. The Quebec Liberal Party, under incumbent Premier Jean Charest, was re-elected with a majority government, marking the first time since the 1950s (when the Union Nationale (Quebec), Union Nationale of Maurice Duplessis won four consecutive elections) that a party or leader was elected to a third consecutive mandate, and the first time for the Liberals since the 1930s, when Louis-Alexandre Taschereau was Premier. The 2008 election also marked the first time that Québec solidaire won a seat. Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts is a town in the province of Quebec, Canada, in the regional county municipality of Les Laurentides in the administrative region of Laurentides, also known as the "Laurentians" or the Laurentian Mountains (in English).
