''Demons of the Deep'' is a single-player roleplaying gamebook written by Steve Jackson (US game designer), Steve Jackson (the American game-designer, rather than the series co-creator), illustrated by Duncan Smith and originally published in 1986 by Puffin Books. It forms part of Steve Jackson (UK), Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone's ''Fighting Fantasy'' series. It is the 19th in the series in the original Puffin series (). There are currently no announced plans to republish the book as part of the modern Wizard series. ''Demons of the Deep'' contains many successful endings, though some are 'more successful' than others. Puffin Books
Puffin Books is a longstanding children's imprint of the British publishers Penguin Books. Since the 1960s, it has been among the largest publishers of children's books in the UK and much of the English-speaking world. The imprint now belongs to Penguin Random House, a subsidiary of the German media conglomerate Bertelsmann. Les Edwards
Les Edwards (born 7 September 1949) is a British illustrator known for his work in the horror, science fiction and fantasy genres, and has provided numerous illustrations for book jackets, posters, magazines, record covers and games during his career. In addition to working under his actual name, he also uses the pseudonym Edward Miller to paint in a different style and to overcome restrictions placed on him by his association with horror. He has won the British Fantasy Society award for Best Artist seven times, and was awarded the World Fantasy Award in 2008. Sir Ian Livingstone (born 29 December 1949) is an English fantasy author and entrepreneur. Along with Steve Jackson, he is the co-founder of a series of role-playing gamebooks, ''Fighting Fantasy'', and the author of many books within that series. He is also one of the co-founders of prominent games company Games Workshop. A gamebook is a work of printed fiction that allows the reader to participate in the story by making choices.
