Democrats (Chile)
Democrats ( es, Demócratas) is a Chilean political party founded in 2022 by former militants of the Christian Democratic Party, Party for Democracy and Radical Party, all former members from the defunct Concertación coalition. History Its founders were senators Ximena Rincón and Matías Walker, as well as former presidential candidate Carlos Maldonado Curti. Most party members supported the «Reject» option in the 2022 constitutional plebiscite forming the Center-left for Reject movement (''Centroizquerda por el Rechazo''). Democrats began their legalization procedures on November 4, 2022. Ideology The movement defined itself as "centrist", although it acknowledged that it has center-left and center-right tendencies. Ximena Rincón
Ximena Cecilia Rincón González (born 5 July 1968) is a Chilean lawyer and politician. She is formerly Chile's Labor Minister and former Ministry General Secretariat of the Presidency (Chile), Minister Secretary-General of the Presidency under President of Chile, President Michelle Bachelet. Between 2005 and 2006 she was intendant of the Santiago Metropolitan Region. In 2017 was elected Senator in representation of Maule Region. In 2021 was elected President of the Senate of Chile, replacing Yasna Provoste. In the 2022 Chilean national plebiscite, Rincón supported the option to reject the drafted constitution, despite her party, the Christian Democratic Party (Chile), Christian Democratic Party, supporting the option to approve. Blue
Blue is one of the three primary colours in the RYB colour model (traditional colour theory), as well as in the RGB (additive) colour model. It lies between violet and cyan on the spectrum of visible light. The eye perceives blue when observing light with a dominant wavelength between approximately 450 and 495 nanometres. Most blues contain a slight mixture of other colours; azure contains some green, while ultramarine contains some violet. The clear daytime sky and the deep sea appear blue because of an optical effect known as Rayleigh scattering. An optical effect called Tyndall effect explains blue eyes. The political parties of Chile are three clearly categorized, distinct, political groups: the left-wing, the center and the right-wing. Before the 1973 coup, these three political groups were moderately pluralistic and fragmented. This distinction has existed since the end of the 19th Century. Non-denominational
A non-denominational person or organization is one that does not follow (or is not restricted to) any particular or specific religious denomination. Overview The term has been used in the context of various faiths including Jainism, Baháʼí Faith, Zoroastrianism, Unitarian Universalism, Neo-Paganism, Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism and Wicca. Pluralism as a political philosophy is the recognition and affirmation of diversity within a political body, which is seen to permit the peaceful coexistence of different interests, convictions, and lifestyles. Centrist
Centrism is a political outlook or position involving acceptance or support of a balance of social equality and a degree of social hierarchy while opposing political changes that would result in a significant shift of society strongly to the left or the right. 2022 Chilean National Plebiscite
The 2022 Chilean national plebiscite was held on 4 September 2022, in order to determine whether the public agreed with the text of a new Political Constitution of the Republic drawn up by the Constitutional Convention. It was commonly referred to as the "exit plebiscite" (''plebiscito de salida''). The proposed constitution, which had faced "intense criticism that it was too long, too left-wing and too radical", was rejected by a margin of 62% to 38%.
