Ximena Rincón
Ximena Cecilia Rincón González (born 5 July 1968) is a Chilean lawyer and politician. She is formerly Chile's Labor Minister and former Ministry General Secretariat of the Presidency (Chile), Minister Secretary-General of the Presidency under President of Chile, President Michelle Bachelet. Between 2005 and 2006 she was intendant of the Santiago Metropolitan Region. In 2017 was elected Senator in representation of Maule Region. In 2021 was elected President of the Senate of Chile, replacing Yasna Provoste. In the 2022 Chilean national plebiscite, Rincón supported the option to reject the drafted constitution, despite her party, the Christian Democratic Party (Chile), Christian Democratic Party, supporting the option to approve. The president of the Senate of Chile is the presiding officer of the Senate of Chile. The position comes after the Ministers of State in the line of succession of the President of Chile in case of temporary incapacitation or vacancy, according to Article 29 of the Constitution of Chile. Juan Carlos Latorre Carmona (born 25 March 1949) is a Chilean politician who served as member of the Chamber of Deputies, representing the former District 35 of the O'Higgins Region. Academic background From 1966 on, Latorre studied physics and mathematics at the University of Chile. Later he graduated from Master of Regional Planning and Development at the University of Karlsruhe in Germany. 2022 Chilean National Plebiscite
The 2022 Chilean national plebiscite was held on 4 September 2022, in order to determine whether the public agreed with the text of a new Political Constitution of the Republic drawn up by the Constitutional Convention. It was commonly referred to as the "exit plebiscite" (''plebiscito de salida''). The proposed constitution, which had faced "intense criticism that it was too long, too left-wing and too radical", was rejected by a margin of 62% to 38%. Maule Region
The Maule Region ( es, Región del Maule, ) is one of Chile's 16 first order administrative divisions. Its capital is Talca. The region derives its name from the Maule River which, running westward from the Andes, bisects the region and spans a basin of about 20,600 km2. The Maule river is of considerable historic interest because, among other reasons, it marked the southern limits of the Inca Empire. Geography and ecology The region covers an area of and is bordered on the west by the Pacific Ocean; on the east by the Argentina; on the north by the O'Higgins Region, and on the south by the Ñuble Region.
