Delphi, IN
Delphi () is a city in and the county seat of Carroll County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. Located twenty minutes northeast of Lafayette, it is part of the Lafayette, Indiana Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 2,893 at the 2010 census. History Delphi was platted in 1828. It took its name from the ancient city of Delphi, in Greece. Several months after Delphi was founded, it was designated as the county seat. The Barnett-Seawright-Wilson House, Carroll County Courthouse, Delphi City Hall, Delphi Courthouse Square Historic District, Delphi Methodist Episcopal Church, Foreman-Case House, and Niewerth Building are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Niewerth Building (also known as Hamling's Tavern) is a historic commercial building located at 124 East Main Street, Delphi, Carroll County, Indiana. Description and history It was built in 1874, and is a two-story, five bay, Italianate style brick building. It measures 30 feet wide and 74 feet deep. Delphi Methodist Episcopal Church
Delphi Methodist Episcopal Church is a historic Methodist Episcopal church complex located at Delphi, Carroll County, Indiana. The brick and limestone trimmed Gothic Revival style church sanctuary/auditorium was constructed in 1869 with alterations in 1884, 1897, and 1926. It features a massive three-story bell tower on its northeast corner. The education wing was constructed in 1926 in the Collegiate Gothic style. Delphi Courthouse Square Historic District
The Delphi Courthouse Square Historic District in Delphi, Indiana is a area roughly bounded by Monroe, Main, Market and Indiana Streets. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010. It includes Italianate architecture and Classical Revival architecture and work by Elmer Dunlap among its 31 contributing buildings. Delphi City Hall, also known as the Assian-Ruffing Building and Old City Hall-Opera House, is a historic city hall located at 105-109 Washington Street in Delphi, Indiana.
