Boris Nikolayevich Delaunay or Delone (russian: Бори́с Никола́евич Делоне́; 15 March 1890 – 17 July 1980) was a Soviet and Russian mathematician, mountain climber, and the father of physicist, Nikolai Borisovich Delone. The spelling ''Delone'' is a straightforward transliteration from Cyrillic he often used in later publications, while ''Delaunay'' is the French version he used in the early French and German publications. Biography Boris Delone got his surname from his ancestor French Army officer de Launay, who was captured in Russia during Napoleon's invasion of 1812. De Launay was a nephew of the Bastille governor marquis de Launay. He married a woman from the Tukhachevsky noble family and stayed in Russia. When Boris was a young boy his family spent summers in the Alps where he learned mountain climbing. By 1913, he became one of the top three Russian mountain climbers. Delone Carter
Delone M. Carter (born June 22, 1987) is a former American football running back. He played college football at Syracuse and was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the fourth round of the 2011 NFL Draft. Prior to college, Carter played for the Copley Indians at Copley High School. College career Carter rushed for 1,233 yards on 231 carries and nine touchdowns as a senior. He was named the MVP of the 2010 Pinstripe Bowl after rushing for 198 yards on 27 carries and two touchdowns. He was also the offensive MVP of the 2011 East–West Shrine Game. Carter currently ranks third on the Syracuse all-time rushing yards list with 3,104. Nikolai Borisovich Delone
Nikolai Delaunay, Jr. (aka Delone, Nikolai Borisovich; 22 May 1926 – 11 September 2008) was a Soviet physicist born in Leningrad, USSR (now Saint Petersburg, Russia). Life Delone was born in Leningrad on 22 May 1926. He was the son of Boris Delone, a mathematician. He graduated from the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute in 1951, and obtained his Ph.D at the Lebedev Physical Institute in the late 1950s. Delone is recognized for the first observations of multiphoton ionization, in 1965. : English translation in Delone, along with Maxim Ammosov and Vladimir P. Krainov, developed the ADK formula, relating tunneling ionization in laser fields. He was also a lecturer at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. Delone Catholic High School is a private, Roman Catholic high school in McSherrystown, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg. History Delone Catholic High School is a regional high school named for Charles J. Delone, Esquire, a prominent Catholic attorney of Hanover, Pennsylvania, who donated the land and the funds for the construction of the original building. The facilities that had been the education center for the elementary and high school had been destroyed by a fire in 1938, which precipitated Delone's donation. The cornerstone of the new school was laid in 1939, and the new building was dedicated by Archbishop Amleto Giovanni Cicognani, Apostolic Delegate to the United States, on September 2, 1940.
