Jean-Loup Delcroix
Jean-Loup Delcroix (1924–2003) was a French physicist, specializing in the physics of gases and plasmas. Biography Jean-Loup Delcroix received secondary education at Lycée Janson-de-Sailly in Paris and Lycée Champollion in Grenoble. He matriculated in 1944 at ENS Paris and graduated there in 1948 with outstanding rank in the ''agrégation'' in physics. He graduated in 1953 with a doctorate from the University of Paris. His thesis is entitled ''Étude des propriétés statiques des charges d'espace du type magnétron''. Under the supervision of Yves Rocard, he participated in the construction and start-up of the linear accelerator at Orsay from 1952 until 1960. At Paris-Sud University he was a ''maître de conférences'' (MCF) from 1960 to 1965 and a professor from 1965 to 1990, when he retired as professor emeritus. Leo Delcroix
Leo Delcroix (21 November 1949 – 2 November 2022) was a Belgian Flemish politician. He was a member of the Christian People's Party (CVP). Biography Political career Delcroix earned a degree in classical philology from the University of Antwerp, a law degree from KU Leuven, and later studied economics at the Limburg Universitair Centrum. In 1984, he became national secretary of the CVP and served as a in the Senate from 1991 to 1995. On 7 March 1992, he became Minister of Defense within the , a mandate in which he suspended mandatory conscription. He also carried out reforms within the Belgian Armed Forces with a considerable reduction in the number of soldiers, weapons, and barracks and froze the military budget for five years. He was a founding member of the Eurocorps and increasingly deployed the Belgian Armed Forces for operations in Yugoslavia, Somalia, and Rwanda.
