Del Valle High School is a public high school located in the Del Valle community in unincorporated Travis County, Texas, United States and is part of the Del Valle Independent School District. The high school serves the communities of Austin, Creedmoor, Garfield, Mustang Ridge, Pilot Knob, Elroy, Webberville, and Hornsby Bend. It is affiliated with Austin Community College. It was given a "recognized" rating by TEA (Texas Education Agency) for the 2008-2009 school year. History In 1956, Del Valle Junior-Senior High School was built to serve grades seven through ten, and grade eleven was added 1957, and a mascot and colors were chosen. Del Valle, Texas
Del Valle ( ) is an airport-defined edge city of Austin and part of the Austin–Round Rock–San Marcos Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is founded upon the 19th-century Santiago Del Valle leagues, the largest granted land parcel in Travis County. It is an unincorporated area in southeastern Travis County, Texas, United States. It has no local government of its own and no official boundaries. But Austin has annexed portions, including the site of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in 1990. Elroy, Texas
Elroy is a small unincorporated area, unincorporated community south of Austin, Texas, Austin in southeastern Travis County, Texas, United States. General Antonio López de Santa Anna gave modern-day Elroy to a loyal officer, who swapped it for a horse and saddle to return to Mexico. The Elroy community, also known as Driskill, Dutch Waterhole, or Hume, was established 1892, named by a local store owner after his son, Leroy. A post office opened in Elroy in 1899, with George L. Hume as postmaster. This post office was discontinued in 1902, and mail was sent to Del Valle. In 1907, Elroy had a two-teacher school, for 107 white students, and a one-teacher school for 61 black students. Elroy schools were later consolidated in 1961 with the Colorado district, which the next year became the Del Valle Independent School District. Webberville is a village in Travis County, Texas (USA). Its population was 392, according to a 2010 census estimate. Comprising settlements dating back to 1827, Webber's Prairie was formally established by retired physician John Ferdinand Webber in 1839. Pilot Knob, Texas
Pilot Knob is an unincorporated community in southern Travis County, Texas, United States. The area is semi-rural with residences on large lots or acreage and convenience stores and other small businesses. It is located within the Greater Austin metropolitan area. History Pilot Knob was named for Pilot Knob, the remnant hill of an extinct volcano. It was first settled sometime after the American Civil War. A church and a few scattered houses were visible in the 1940s. Residents tried to incorporate Pilot Knob in 1963, but it did not have enough signatures. In 2012, the Easton Park neighborhood of Austin became a planned unit development and is being developed within the area.
