Del Norte High School is a public high school located in and primarily serving the 4S Ranch and Del Sur communities of San Diego, California. It is part of the Poway Unified School District (PUSD). Established in 2009, the campus covers of land. History Del Norte opened on August 19, 2009, and was the last comprehensive high school to be opened in the Poway Unified School District. During its first year, Del Norte was expected to have approximately 700 students in order to create a personalized learning experience. Also notable was the absence of juniors and seniors, as the first year only contained freshmen and sophomores. The expected student population after the first few years was approximately 2,250 students. On May 13, 2014, the Bernardo Fire broke out near the school, leading to the evacuation of 21,000 nearby houses. Quenton Meeks (born June 20, 1997) is an American football cornerback for the Memphis Showboats of the United Football League (UFL). He played college football at Stanford. Early years Meeks attended Del Norte High School in San Diego, California. He committed to Stanford University to play college football. College career Meeks played at Stanford from 2015 to 2017. After his junior season in 2017, he decided to forgo his senior year and enter the 2018 NFL Draft. During his career he had 115 tackles, seven interceptions and two touchdowns. On May 24, 2022, a mass shooting occurred at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, United States, where 18-year-old Salvador Ramos, a former student at the school, fatally shot nineteen students and two teachers, and wounded seventeen others. Earlier that day, he shot his grandmother in the face at home, severely wounding her.
