Dedication (Bay City Rollers Album)
''Dedication'' is an album by the Bay City Rollers, issued in September 1976. It was the band's fourth original studio album, and the first new album to be released in the wake of their enormous worldwide success of early 1976. Founding group member Alan Longmuir had been replaced by Ian Mitchell prior to the recording sessions. Upon the switch, Mitchell was slotted as rhythm guitarist; Stuart Wood moved from rhythm guitar to bass. Mitchell also provided the lead vocal for the title track. However, when he left the band later that year, a version of "Dedication" featuring a Les McKeown vocal was cut for subsequent pressings of the LP and was in fact released as a single. Bay City Rollers
The Bay City Rollers are a Scottish pop rock band known for their worldwide teen idol popularity in the 1970s. They have been called the "tartan teen sensations from Edinburgh" and one of many acts heralded as the "biggest group since the Beatles. Yesterday's Hero (John Paul Young Song)
"Yesterday's Hero" is a pop song by John Paul Young. The song was written by George Young and Harry Vanda and was released in February 1975 as the lead single from Young's debut studio album, ''Hero'' (1975). Eric Faulkner
Eric Faulkner (born 21 October 1953 as Eric Falconer) is a guitarist, songwriter and singer, best known as a member of the Scottish pop band, the Bay City Rollers. Faulkner was born at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh, Scotland. As a youngster he learned to play the viola and played for a time in a youth orchestra. He also plays the violin, mandolin, bass and keyboards. He attended Liberton High School in Edinburgh. Faulkner joined the Bay City Rollers in 1972 as their guitarist, after a period with the group KIP (previously known as Sugar). Faulkner was a member of the Rollers for the remainder of their existence into the 1980s. He co-wrote more than half of the recorded catalogue of Rollers songs including the UK Singles Chart hits "Money Honey" and "Love Me Like I Love You". Les McKeown
Leslie Richard McKeown (12 November 195520 April 2021) was a Scottish pop singer. He was the lead singer of the Bay City Rollers during their most successful period in the 1970s. Early life McKeown was born in Broomhouse, a suburb close to the south-western city limit of Edinburgh, on 12 November 1955. His father, Francis, worked as a tailor and was deaf; his mother, Florence (née Close), was a seamstress who moved to Scotland after getting married. Both emigrated to the United Kingdom from Ireland. The family communicated with his father via hand signals. McKeown was raised in a city tenement block, attended Broomhouse Primary School, then nearby Forrester High School, and volunteered in the Boys' Brigade. Russell Glyn Ballard (born 31 October 1945) is an English singer, songwriter and musician. Originally coming to prominence as the lead singer and guitarist for the band Argent, Ballard became a songwriter and producer by the late 1970s. Michael Edwin Hawker (29 November 1936 – 4 May 2014) was an English songwriter. Biography Born in Bath, Somerset, he lived as a child in Singapore, where his father was stationed in the Royal Air Force, before returning to settle with relatives in Barnsley, Yorkshire. After attending university, he spent time with the RAF in Europe, and started writing concert reviews of American jazz musicians, which he submitted to such magazines as the ''New Musical Express'' and '' Jazz Journal''. He started working in the publicity department at EMI in the late 1950s, and then moved into promotion work with Larry Parnes. Douglas Jackson Flett (13 October 1935 – 15 July 2019) was an Australian songwriter based in the UK, best known for his collaborations with longtime songwriting partner, Guy Fletcher. Collectively, the duo have also been known as Fletcher & Flett. Since the mid-1960s, they wrote and composed hit songs for many artists. Mervyn Guy Fletcher (born 21 April 1944) is an English record producer, singer and songwriter who, in partnership with Doug Flett, wrote several hits for other artists. As a singer, he had a small hit in the Netherlands and other European countries with the song, "Mary in the Morning" (1971).
