Debby Kerner
Debby Kerner & Ernie Rettino are American musicians best known as the creators of the characters from the Psalty the Singing Songbook in the Kids' Praise! series of Christian children's musical albums. Together, they have also created Solomon the Supersonic Salamander, and '' Hi-Tops'' (a musical for pre-teens and teens). Kerner started off as a solo Christian singer in 1969. She and Rettino met at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa in Southern California, where she led worship. They have been making music together since the mid-1970s. They were married in 1976 and named the album they released that year "More Than Friends". In 1979, the duo created a cartoon character for children by the name of Psalty the Singing Songbook. Psalty was introduced in the "Kids Praise" Series, which was produced by Maranatha! Music between 1980 and 1991. Jay Truax (born Lynwood, California) is a bass player and singer with Love Song (band), Love Song, a pioneer Christian rock group. Jay formed a Salt Lake City rock group with John Mehler and Fred Field called Spirit of Creation. Later he joined with Chuck Girard and Tommy Coomes in Love Song (band), Love Song. Truax also played bass and sang backing vocals for former Buffalo Springfield member Richie Furay between 1975 and 1977 and played on Furay's 1976 album ''I've Got a Reason''. John Mehler
John Mehler (born August 27, 1948 in Long Beach, California), is a drummer for Love Song, Spirit of Creation, Noah and other bands. Biography Mehler graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1969 and soon thereafter moved to Salt Lake City with two musician friends, Chuck Fraher and Jay Truax, to form Spirit of Creation. While Mehler was a member of Spirit of Creation the group opened for some of the more popular groups of the day including Three Dog Night, Spirit and the Grateful Dead. In the summer of 1970 he joined Chuck Girard and Tommy Coomes in Love Song, one of the pioneers of Contemporary Christian Music (CCM). Mehler has worked with artists as far ranging as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Lee Ritenour, Richie Furay and Phil Keaggy. Michele Diane Pillar (born July 26, 1955) is a contemporary Christian music singer, songwriter and occasional actress.
