Jay Truax
Jay Truax (born Lynwood, California) is a bass player and singer with Love Song (band), Love Song, a pioneer Christian rock group. Jay formed a Salt Lake City rock group with John Mehler and Fred Field called Spirit of Creation. Later he joined with Chuck Girard and Tommy Coomes in Love Song (band), Love Song. Truax also played bass and sang backing vocals for former Buffalo Springfield member Richie Furay between 1975 and 1977 and played on Furay's 1976 album ''I've Got a Reason''. He also played in The Surfaris, with Jim Fuller (musician), Jim Fuller, Jim Pash (Wipe Out (instrumental), Wipe Out), not Bob Berryhill’s spin off version of The Surfaris, off and on from 1982 until 2017. Bob Berryhill
Bob Berryhill (born December 15, 1947) was a member of The Surfaris and co-writer and recording artist of " Wipe Out" and other Surfaris' hits. In 1960, when Berryhill was 13, he took a trip to the Hawaiian Islands and learned to surf and play ukulele. On returning to California, he began working seriously on guitar and two years later, "Wipe Out" was born. His role of rhythm guitar merged into lead guitar later with his new band, The Surfaris featuring Bob Berryhill. Wipeout, was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2019. "Wipe Out" is a surf rock instrumental composed by Bob Berryhill, Pat Connolly, Jim Fuller and Ron Wilson. Composed in the form of twelve-bar blues, the tune was first performed and recorded by the Surfaris, who became famous with the single in 1963. The single was first issued on the independent labels DFS (#11/12) in January 1963 and Princess (#50) in February and finally picked up for national distribution on Dot as 45-16479 in April. Dot reissued the single in April 1965 as 45-144. The song—both the Surfaris' version as well as cover versions—has been featured in over 20 films and television series since 1964, appearing at least once a decade. James Edward Pash (December 23, 1948 – April 29, 2005) was an American musician and recording artist. Pash was originally the surf saxophonist for The Surfaris, an early California surf rock group in the 1960s, known for the 1963 instrument hit " Wipe Out". In later years, Pash dedicated his time to his Harp of David project, a recreation of the original harp and song melodies used by King David of the Bible. He died April 29, 2005 at Yucca Valley, San Bernardino County, California, USA, from congestive heart failure while waiting for a liver transplant. The Surfaris are an American surf rock band formed in Glendora, California, United States, in 1962. They are best known for two songs that hit the charts in the Los Angeles area, and nationally by May 1963: "Surfer Joe" and " Wipe Out", which were the A-side and B-side of the same 45 rpm single. The Surfaris were inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2019 for their hit instrumental song, "Wipe Out".
