Deborah (Debbie) Scerri (born on 25 March 1969 in Toronto) is a Maltese television presenter and singer. She represented Malta in the European Union, Malta and Cyprus Song Festival in 1994, held in Thessaloniki. She also represented Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest 1997 which was held in Dublin with the song " Let Me Fly". The song finished in 9th place with 66 points. The song got the maximum 12 points from Turkey, 10 points from Norway, eight points from both Greece and Croatia, seven points from Ireland, six points from Italy, five points from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Cyprus, three points from Denmark, and 1 point each from Spain and France. That year the only songs which were performed in English were the Maltese entry, the Irish entry and the winning British entry, "Love Shine a Light "Love Shine a Light" is a song by British rock band Katrina and the Waves. The One That I Love
For the Eurovision Song Contest 1998, Malta entered "The One That I Love", performed by Chiara. Before Eurovision National final The final was held on 6 and 7 February 1998 at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta, hosted by Angela Agius, John Demanuele, Denise Mintoff and Patrick Vella. On the first night, 22 songs were presented, 6 of which were in a special category for newcomers to the contest. Those 6 were reduced to 4 after the first night, so that on the second night there were 20 songs. The 2 songs that were eliminated after the first night were "Come Back Home" performed by Rita Pace and "That Magic In Your Eyes" performed by Tonio Cuschieri. On the second night, all 20 finalists performed, and the winner was chosen by an "expert" jury. Chiara Siracusa better known by her mononym Chiara (born 25 September 1976), is a Maltese singer. She represented her country in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1998, 2005, and 2009 and is with a second and a third place the third most successful participant who never won the contest (behind Germany's Katja Ebstein and Wind). Malta has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 34 times since its debut in . The contest is broadcast in Malta on the PBS channel, TVM. Malta has yet to win the contest, but is the only non-winning country to have achieved four top three results. Miriam Christine Borg is a Maltese pop and rhythm and blues singer best known for representing Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest 1996. Miriam Christine was born in Santo Antônio do Descoberto, Goiás, Brazil but raised on the Mediterranean island of Gozo. She took part in various singing festivals before winning the ''Song for Europe Festival'' and representing Malta in the 1996 Eurovision Song Contest with the song '' In a Woman’s Heart''. On the night of the contest, held in Oslo, she was backed by 3 vocalists-one of whom was Georgina Abela, the wife of the composer and a former contestant. Animae Gospel Choir
The Animae Gospel Choir is a vocal ensemble based in Malta. It was founded in 2008 by Glen Vella and it has since grown into a 23 gospel singer-troupe. History Launched in 2008, the Animae Gospel Choir was founded by Maltese singer Glen Vella, who, after experiencing the sound of the Soweto Gospel Choir in the Netherlands, joined forces with Pamela Bezzina, who is the Choir's vocal director and arranger, and Leontine Spiteri to create the choir. The name ‘Animae’ is derived from the Latin word for ‘soul’, anima, and the Animae Gospel Choir aims to be 'a spiritual ensemble that promotes positivity and unity'. The Animae Gospel Choir is made up of 23 singers including three who have represented Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest (Debbie Scerri (1997), Glen Vella (2011) and Amber Bondin (2015)).
