Plot summary ''Death Unchained'' is set in the merciless regime of Falkovnia. A horde of dark and sinister assassins pursue the players from the moment they step out of the mists. Publication history ''Death Unchained'' was published by TSR in 1996, and was designed by Lisa Smedman, with cover art by Fred Fields and interior art by John Dollar. Reception Trenton Webb reviewed ''Death Unchained'' for ''Arcane'' magazine, rating it a 9 out of 10 overall. Webb commented, "without a shadow of a doubt TSR's ''Death Unchained'' is a great off-the-shelf ''AD&D'' Ravenloft scenario". Lisa Smedman
Lisa Smedman is a science fiction and fantasy author and journalist. Her novel ''Extinction'', set in the Forgotten Realms universe, was a ''New York Times'' bestseller. Smedman first became known for gaming adventure novels, and later published her own independent fantasy novels. Background Smedman was born and raised in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in anthropology from the University of British Columbia and a journalism diploma from Langara College in Vancouver. After her first job as a typesetter for a local publisher, Smedman has spent her whole career working as a reporter and editor at Vancouver-area weekly newspapers. Fred Fields
Fred Fields is an American artist whose work has appeared largely in the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' fantasy role-playing game from TSR. Biography Fred Fields was born in northern Kentucky. He grew up in the small town of Burlington, Kentucky. Fields wanted to be an artist since childhood: "I don't know that becoming an artist is a decision you can make... I've been drawing since before I can remember, and I started painting at age nine. I used to do all these monsters and stuff, and my mom was frankly a little concerned about it. Now that I'm making a living at it, I think mom's OK with it. My parents always encouraged me to draw and do what I wanted with it. They've always been 100% behind me."
