Death Powder
is a 1986 low-budget science fiction/ horror film with Body horror elements, written and directed by Japanese poet/folk singer Shigeru Izumiya. The experimental film is credited as being the first core of the Japanese cyberpunk subgenre that emerged during the 1980s, predating both Katsuhiro Otomo's anime film adaptation of '' Akira'' and Shinya Tsukamoto's '' Tetsuo: The Iron Man''. Izumiya also stars in his own film, as one of the three scientists who have stolen a cybernetic android and take it to an abandoned warehouse. Plot In the very near future, a group of three conspirators capture a very special android named Guernica. The scientists bring her to a deserted warehouse, and tie her to a cot, with a protective covering over her mouth. One assisting researcher (Harima) is left to guard the Guernica, but the android secretes a reality-altering substance, causing Harima to slowly lose his mind. Shigeru Izumiya
Shigeru Izumiya (泉谷 しげる ''Izumiya Shigeru'', born May 11, 1948 in Aomori, raised in Meguro, Tokyo) is a Japanese poet, folk singer, actor, tarento. He established the record company For Life Records with Takuro Yoshida, Yosui Inoue, and Hitoshi Komuro in 1975. He also directed the 1986 film ''Death Powder'' (Desu Paudā). Between August 1995 and March 1996, Izumiya co-hosted the Satellaview-based weekly SoundLink Magazine, , with Ayumi Hamasaki. Shozin Fukui
is a Japanese film director and screenwriter. He has produced three experimental shorts ('' Metal Days, Gerorisuto'', and ''Caterpillar'') and two full-length films (''964 Pinocchio'', and '' Rubber's Lover''). These movies (excluding ''Metal Days)'' were widely available, having been issued on DVD by Unearthed Films. However, these releases have since gone out of print. He has released four more films since then (''Onne'', '' Den-Sen'', ''The Hiding'' and '' 『S-94』''). These are almost completely unknown outside Japan. It deals with the theme of brain-modified sex slaves as well as mental breakdowns in a hallucinogenic thrill ride. Plot 964 Pinocchio is a memory-wiped sex slave cyborg who is thrown out by his owners for failure to maintain an erection. It is unclear in what ways he has been modified beyond having no memory and being unable to communicate. He is discovered by Himiko, a homeless girl, while wandering aimlessly through the city.
