Dear John Letters (band)
Dear John Letters were a Seattle, Washington-based rock band made up of Robb Benson, Richard Davidson, Cassady Laton, and Johnny Sangster. Formation and history Robb Benson was born in Mount Vernon, Washington, and lived most of his early life in the area. Benson's first band was the Seattle-based Nevada Bachelors, formed in 1997, who received national interest. When they disbanded, he recorded the ''Songs about Songs'' EP. Benson then formed Dear John Letters, who released three albums. Benson and Johnny Sangster (who had produced the first Nevada Bachelors album and ''Songs About Songs'') also collaborated on ''Sangster Meets Benson/Benson Meets Sangster'', an album of experimental pop. When Dear John Letters went on hiatus, Robb Benson continued to record solo albums and launched other projects. Dear John Letters is not active, but did perform in 2009 for Robb's 40th birthday. Nevada Bachelors were an American rock band from Seattle, Washington, formed in 1997. The band's lineup consisted of Robb Benson (vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboard), Mike Squires (lead guitar, backing vocals) and Ben Brunn (bass, backing vocals). Dusty Hayes was the band's drummer from their formation until 1999, and was replaced by Jason Finn. The Posies
The Posies were an American power pop group. The band was formed in 1986 in Bellingham, Washington, United States, by primary songwriters Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow. Their music has its origins in Merseybeat and the Hollies. They are influenced by Hüsker Dü, XTC, Elvis Costello and Squeeze. The band split up in October 2021, following several allegations of sexual misconduct made against bandmember Ken Stringfellow. The Tripwires are a Seattle, Washington (state), Washington–based rock supergroup made up of well known local musicians Dan Peters, John Ramberg, and brothers Jim and Johnny Sangster, all of whom have been members of bands that include The Minus 5, Screaming Trees, and The Young Fresh Fellows. Johnny Sangster is an American musician, record producer, and recording engineer. Professional career Johnny Sangster is a Seattle-based recording engineer, musician, and producer. As a musician he is known for The Sharing Patrol, Dear John Letters, The Tripwires, Mark Pickerel & His Praying Hands, as well as being a touring guitar player and keyboardist for Neko Case. Sangster’s producer and engineer credits include The Briefs, Mudhoney, The Posies, Supersuckers, and many others. He currently works primarily out of Crackle & Pop, a studio that he cofounded and operates along with Andrew Smith in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood.
