Dean Gaskell
Dean Gaskell, (born 12 April 1983) is a former Ireland international rugby league footballer. Background Gaskell was born in England, and he is of Irish descent. Career Gaskell played for the Widnes Vikings in National League One. He also played for Ireland. Dean Gaskell's position of choice was on the , but he could also operate as a . Gaskell had previously played for the Leigh Centurions, and had Super League experience with the Warrington Wolves. Dean Gaskell was successful with Widnes, in 2007 scoring 10 tries in 14 games. Gaskell is an Ireland international, however he missed the winter programme and the games against Russia and Lebanon through injury. The 2008 Rugby League World Cup was the thirteenth staging of the Rugby League World Cup since its inauguration in 1954, and the first since the 2000 tournament. The tournament was held in Australia from 26 October, culminating in the final between Australia and New Zealand on 22 November. The tournament was the fourth time that the World Cup was held in Australia, the first being in 1957. The tournament was won by New Zealand, who defeated Australia 34–20 in the final in one of the greatest upsets in the history of the sport. The tournament featured the best ten teams around the globe which were split into three groups. A total of eighteen matches took place in twelve different venues across four Australian states. The Lebanon national rugby league team (Arabic: المنتخب اللبناني للرجبي ليغ) represents Lebanon in rugby league football. Nicknamed "the Cedars" after the Lebanese cedar tree, the team was formed by Lebanese Australians in 1997 and have been administered by the Lebanese Rugby League Federation since 2002. The Cedars have competed at two Rugby League World Cups, in 2000 and 2017, achieving their best result as quarter-finalists at the latter. The Warrington Wolves are a professional rugby league club based in Warrington, England, that competes in the Super League. They play rugby at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, having moved there from Wilderspool in 2004. Founded as Warrington Zingari Football Club in 1876, they are one of the original twenty-two clubs that formed the Northern Rugby Football Union in 1895 and the only one that has played every season in the top flight.
