Deaf Cinema
''Deaf cinema'' is a movement that includes all works produced and directed by deaf people or members of the deaf community and is led by deaf actors. All these works have a tendency to nurture and develop the culture's self image and to reflect correctly the core of the Deaf culture and language. Auslan
Auslan () is the majority sign language of the Australian Deaf community. The term ''Auslan'' is a portmanteau of "Australian Sign Language", coined by Trevor Johnston in the 1980s, although the language itself is much older. Auslan is related to British Sign Language (BSL) and New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL); the three have descended from the same parent language, and together comprise the BANZSL language family. Auslan has also been influenced by Irish Sign Language (ISL) and more recently has borrowed signs from American Sign Language (ASL). As with other sign languages, Auslan's grammar and vocabulary is quite different from English. Its origin cannot be attributed to any individual; rather, it is a natural language that emerged spontaneously and has changed over time. ASVOFF
ASVOFF, or ''A Shaded View on Fashion Film'', is a fashion film festival founded by journalist Diane Pernet. Since its 2008 debut at the Jeu de Paume National Gallery, it is a three-day festival event showcasing feature films, documentaries, conferences, performances and installations. Rotten Tomatoes is an American review-aggregation website for film and television. The company was launched in August 1998 by three undergraduate students at the University of California, Berkeley: Senh Duong, Patrick Y. Lee, and Stephen Wang. Although the name "Rotten Tomatoes" connects to the practice of audiences throwing rotten tomatoes in disapproval of a poor stage performance, the original inspiration comes from a scene featuring tomatoes in the Canadian film ''Léolo'' (1992). Since January 2010, Rotten Tomatoes has been owned by Flixster, which was in turn acquired by Warner Bros in 2011. TL Forsberg (born 8 September in Nova Scotia, Canada) is a Canadian hard of hearing singer, songwriter and actress who proudly embraces the word "deaf" She is a graduate of George Brown Theatre School, Forsberg performed as the singer/front person for the band KRIYA which opened for Alanis Morissette and Tori Amos at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre in 1999. Robert DeMayo is a deaf American actor, educator, and ASL translator. He is one of the subjects of '' See What I'm Saying: The Deaf Entertainers Documentary'' (2009) who the New York Times called "staggeringly talented." CJ Jones (born September 29, 1950) is an American actor residing in Los Angeles. He is one of the subjects of '' See What I'm Saying: The Deaf Entertainers Documentary'' (2009). Jones made his feature film debut with Edgar Wright's '' Baby Driver'' (2017), in which he portrays Joseph, the deaf foster father of Ansel Elgort's protagonist.
