Dead End Derby
Dead End Derby (DED) is a women's flat track roller derby league based in Christchurch, New Zealand. The league currently consists of 4 teams. Two competitive adult travel teams, the "Death Stars" A team and "Living Dead Rollers" B team, 1 development team "Dead Seas" and 1 Juniors Team "The Rolling Dead". Dead End Derby has a successful competitive record with both travel teams competing nationwide. Dead End Derby has Adult & Junior Learn to Skate programs as well as "Freshmeat" learn to roller derby programs. Dead End Derby have 2 officials crews, consisting of on skates referees and non-skating officials. Dead End Derby is a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). WFTDA Championships
The International Women's Flat Track Derby Association Championships ("WFTDA Championships" or "Champs" for short) are the leading competition for roller derby leagues. The Championships are organised by the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). They originated in 2006 as the National WFTDA Championship. The "Dust Devil" tournament was contested in front of several thousand fans in Tucson, Arizona. Women's Flat Track Derby Association Rankings
Rankings for the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) are used to determine placement in overall standings (rather than win–loss record) and also to determine seedings at WFTDA Playoffs. Achieving high rankings is also a goal for teams aiming to increase their stature in the organization. Each year at the end of June, teams are seeded into Division 1 and Division 2 playoff tournaments. Historically, the top 40 teams in the WFTDA as of June 30 were eligible for Division 1 tournaments that season, and the teams ranked 41–60 were eligible for Division 2 tournaments. For 2017, the Division 1 cutoff was reduced to the top 36 teams, with the next 16 teams qualifying for Division 2 Playoffs. The Roller Derby World Cup is an international women's roller derby tournament formerly organized by ''Blood & Thunder magazine'', and currently organized by the Roller Derby World Cup Committee. Teams of amateur skaters from around the world compete for their respective nations. History The inaugural 2011 Roller Derby World Cup was hosted by Toronto Roller Derby, and was held December 1 through 4, 2011, at The Bunker at Downsview Park in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Team New Zealand Roller Derby is the New Zealand national women's flat track roller derby team. It was founded in 2011 to compete in the inaugural Roller Derby World Cup. The Auckland Roller Derby League (ARDL) is a women's flat track roller derby league based in Auckland, New Zealand. The Hellmilton Roller Ghouls are a Roller Derby league located in the central North Island of New Zealand. Independently run by its members, the Hellmilton Roller Ghouls currently have one team for 2015, Raggedy Angst.
