De Randfichten are a German ''Volksmusik'' (folk music) band from Johanngeorgenstadt, Saxony. Founded in 1992 as ''Original Arzgebirgische Randfichten'' by Thomas "Rups" Unger and Michael "Michl" Rostig, they were renamed to ''De Randfichten'' in 1997. In that year Thomas "Lauti" Lauterbach became a band member, and they released their first album ''Do pfeift dr Fuchs''. Their song "Lebt denn der alte Holzmichl noch?" reached #3 of the German single charts in July 2004 and was in the German Top 100 for 56 weeks. The song is based on a traditional folk song "Der Hausmichl". After the "Holzmichl" song they had six other singles in the German charts, "De lustigen Holzhackerleit", "Jetzt geht die Party richtig los", "Das kommt vom Rudern", "Nananana", "Rups am Grill" and "Du kleine Fliege"; the most recent of these was in 2012. Johanngeorgenstadt
Johanngeorgenstadt () is a mining town in Saxony’s Ore Mountains, 17 km south of Aue, and 27 km northwest of Karlovy Vary. It lies in the district of Erzgebirgskreis, on the border with the Czech Republic, is a state-recognized health resort (''Erholungsort''), and calls itself ''Stadt des Schwibbogens'' (“Schwibbogen Town”). Its population decline since the 1950s has been extremely severe falling from 45,000 residents in 1953 to only about one tenth of that now. Bundesvision Song Contest 2005
The Bundesvision Song Contest 2005 was the first edition of the annual Bundesvision Song Contest musical event. The contest was held on 12 February 2005 at the König Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen, North Rhine-Westphalia. The contest was hosted by Stefan Raab, Annette Frier, and Oliver Pocher in the green room. It was the first Germany-wide music competition in this format. The winner of the Bundesvision Song Contest 2005 was alternative pop band Juli with the song " Geile Zeit", representing Hessen. In second place were Fettes Brot representing Schleswig-Holstein, and third place to Sido with representing Berlin. 14 of the 16 states awarded themselves the maximum of 12 points, with North Rhine-Westphalia, and Rhineland-Palatinate, awarding themselves 10 points each.
