De Pijp metro station (Dutch language, Dutch: ''Station De Pijp'') is a station on the Route 52 (North–South Line) of the Amsterdam Metro in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It was opened on 22 July 2018. Prior to March 2012, this station was known as the Ceintuurbaan. De Pijp is an underground station situated in the Oude Pijp neighbourhood of the borough of Amsterdam-Zuid (Amsterdam South). The station is expected to handle around 18,000 passengers and arrivals per day. History The station, designed by Benthem Crouwel Architekten, Benthem Crouwel Architects, is situated beneath the Ferdinand Bolstraat in the De Pijp neighbourhood. Because of the narrow constraints of the site location, between the foundations of adjoining buildings, the station has two levels, with a platform on each level. Oude Pijp (Dutch for "Old Pipe"), also known as Noord-Pijp (Dutch for "North-Pipe") is a neighbourhood of Amsterdam, Netherlands located in an urbanised part of the Zuid borough. It had a population of 14,102 in 2011 and an area of 68 hectares. Together with Nieuwe Pijp, Oude Pijp forms De Pijp. Oude Pijp is bordered by the Boerenwetering (west), the Singelgracht (north), the Amstel (east), and the Ceintuurbaan (south). The Sarphatipark is part of Oude Pijp. Split Platform
A split platform is a station that has a platform for each track, split onto two or more levels. This configuration allows a narrower station plan (or footprint) horizontally, at the expense of a deeper (or higher) vertical elevation, because sets of tracks and platforms are stacked above each other. Where two rails lines cross or run parallel for a time, split platforms are sometimes used in a hybrid arrangement that allows for convenient cross-platform interchange between trains running in the same general direction. De Pijp (; English: The Pipe) is a neighbourhood of Amsterdam, Netherlands. It is located directly south of Amsterdam's city centre and it is part of the borough Amsterdam-Zuid, in a part of the city known as the Old South ( ''Oud Zuid''). It is served by De Pijp metro station. Most streets in De Pijp are named after Dutch painters, like Jan Steen, Frans Hals, Ruysdael and Vincent van Gogh. Amalia Pica (born 1978 in Neuquén, Argentina) is a London-based Argentinian artist who explores metaphor, communication, and civic participation through sculptures, installations, photographs, projections, live performances, and drawings. Early life and education Amalia Pica was born in Neuquén, Argentina, in 1978. She earned a BA from the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes Prilidiano Pueyrredón in Buenos Aires in 2003.
