De La Salle Lady Spikers Women's Volleyball
The De La Salle University Lady Spikers is the official women's volleyball team of De La Salle University. History The Lady Spikers were the first NCAA women's champions in volleyball when the tournament was introduced in NCAA Season 51 (1975–76). The first UAAP title of the team came in Season 62 (2000). They then won the UAAP title in 2004, 2005, 2006 (as 3-peat champions), 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013 (as 3-peat champions), and 2016, 2017, 2018 (as 3-peat champions). They have won a total of eleven (11) titles. The Lady Spikers hold the distinction of having appeared in the Finals for ten consecutive times from UAAP Seasons 71 to 80 (2009–2018) which is the longest streak in the Final Four era of the UAAP. The Lady Spikers are also 4-peat Champions of the PVF National Inter-Collegiate Volleyball Tournament nailing the 8th, 9th, 10th & 11th editions of the tournament. Ramil de Jesus is a Filipino volleyball coach who is the head coach of the De La Salle University women's volleyball team. Mary Joy Baron
Mary Joy Dela Cruz Baron (born December 12, 1995), also known as Majoy Baron, is a Filipino volleyball player. She went to Concepcion Catholic School in Concepcion, Tarlac. She attended college at De La Salle University. She is currently playing for the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers playing as a middle blocker. Baron is also part of the Philippine National Women’s Volleyball Team. Career Baron was a member of the DLSU Lady Spikers which won the women's UAAP Volleyball Championship from year 2016 to 2018. Baron won the UAAP Season 78 Best Blocker award in April 2016. The following year, she won the Most Valuable Player award for UAAP Season 79. With F2 Logistics Cargo Movers, Baron won the 2017 PSL Grand Prix Conference championship and was awarded the Second Best Middle Blocker. UAAP Season 79 Volleyball Tournaments
The UAAP Season 79 volleyball tournaments started on February 4, 2017 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, with the opening games of the men and women's senior volleyball tourneys, participated by 8 regular UAAP members. Aside from the Smart Araneta Coliseum, the games will also be held at the Filoil Flying V Centre, San Juan City and the Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay. The tournament host is the University of Santo Tomas, the season's host school. Rustico "Otie" Camangian will serve as the commissioner of the tournament. The UAAP Season 78 high school volleyball tournament started on August 22, 2015. The tournament venue is the Adamson University Gym in San Marcelino St., Ermita, Manila. Adamson is the tournament host. The number of participating schools in the boys' and girls' tournaments both increased to seven. Far Eastern University fielded boys' and girls' volleyball teams beginning season 77. Since there are now seven participating schools, the tournaments have a Final Four format. The UAAP Board decided to move the high school volleyball tournaments from 2nd semester to 1st semester due to the basketball juniors tournament being moved from the 1st semester to 2nd semester. UAAP Season 74 Volleyball Tournaments
The seniors' division of the UAAP Season 74 volleyball tournaments opened November 26, 2011. Tournaments are hosted by Ateneo de Manila University. Tournament games are held at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan City. Usually held in the first semester, the UAAP Board decided to move the juniors' division tournaments on the second semester of the school year. In boys' tournament, the NU Bullpups and UST Tiger Cubs, which are tied at second place, played for the #2 seed with the latter winning the playoff.
