De Blauwe Vioolspeler
''The Blue Violin Player'' or De Blauwe Vioolspeler (1982) is a metal sculpture located near the Raampoortbrug bridge in Amsterdam Netherlands. It is also called ''Man Trying to Catch Tram 10'' or ''Man with Violin Case''. The identity of the artist is unknown. Background An anonymous artist began placing public sculptures in the city of Amsterdam. In 1982 the sculpture of a human figure running with a violin case was installed in Amsterdam. ''The Blue Violin Player'' portrays a man who appears to be rushing toward the Bloemgracht tram stop, while carrying a violin case. Design The sculpture was completed in 1982. It is a depiction of a faceless/invisible man who is running with a violin case in the direction of the Marnixstraat. The figure is headless and he is on the corner of Marnixtraat and Tweede Hugo de Grootstraat near the Jordaan district. Bloemgracht
The Bloemgracht () is a canal in the Jordaan district of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. It connects the Prinsengracht with the Lijnbaansgracht and runs between and parallel to Nieuwe Leliestraat and Bloemstraat in the Amsterdam-Centrum district. The canal is named after the bulwark "de Bloem", later called "Rijkeroord". From 1614 a windmill was located here, but it was moved to Haarlemmerweg in 1878. History The Bloemgracht was constructed in the first half of the 17th century as part of the Jordaan during one of the major Amsterdam city expansions; the so-called Third Expansion. Initially, dyers were established on and near the Bloemgracht. The Calkoen family in particular was active here. Willem Blaeu started his cartography workshop here in 1635, and it was continued by his son Joan Blaeu and his grandson Joan Junior until 1698. Marnixstraat
Marnixstraat is a main street in the Dutch city of Amsterdam , on the western border of the Jordaan in the Amsterdam-Centrum. The street is located between Haarlemmerplein and Leidseplein, parallel to Lijnbaansgracht. History Marnixstraat is a main street in Amsterdam which was named after Philips of Marnix, Lord of Saint-Aldegonde, (1538-1598). A large bus depot ( Busstation Elandsgracht) and the main police station are located on the Marnixstraat. The street is located between Haarlemmerplein and Leidseplein, parallel to Lijnbaansgracht. It is from Amsterdam Centraal station. The street is used to host events like the 2022 Pride events. The street also has a Tram line: Trams 7, 10 and 14 all make stops at the Elandsgracht tram stop on the street. In 2017 the city of Amsterdam began making plans to make the Marnixstraat a bicycle street. Jordaan
The Jordaan is a neighbourhood of the city of Amsterdam, Netherlands. It is part of the borough of Amsterdam-Centrum. The area is bordered by the Singelgracht canal and the neighbourhood of Frederik Hendrikbuurt to the west; the Prinsengracht to the east; the Brouwersgracht to the north and the Leidsegracht to the south. The former canal Rozengracht (now filled in) is the main traffic artery through the neighbourhood. Originally a working-class neighbourhood, the Jordaan has become one of the most expensive, upscale locations in the Netherlands. It is home to many art galleries, particularly for modern art, and is also dotted with speciality shops and restaurants.
