Susantha De Alwis
Susantha De Alwis (died 22 December 2008) was a Sri Lankan diplomat, the former Sri Lankan Ambassador to the United States, Japan, South Korea and former Permanent Representative to United Nations (Geneva). Educated at the Royal College, Colombo where he won many prizes including the Governor's Scholarship, De Abrew Memorial Scholarship, Principal's Distinctions Prize and the Best Speaker's Prize. He entered the University of Ceylon, Peradeniya, where he was the President of the Law Society and General Secretary, Arunachalam Hall. After graduating with an LL.B. degree, he joined the Ceylon Overseas Service. Later he gained a scholarship to the University of Oxford to read for a BLitt degree in International Laws at Keble College, Oxford. Stanley De Alwis
Stanley de Alwis (26 February 1936 – September 2019) was a cricketer who played first-class cricket for Ceylon between 1958 and 1960. An opening bowler, de Alwis took 4 for 20 on his first-class debut in the Gopalan Trophy match in 1957–58. He gave up sport in 1961 at the age of 25 after contracting hepatitis. He later worked at the Prisons Department and then at the People's Bank. Premakeerthi De Alwis
Samaraweera Mudalige Don Premakeerthi de Alwis (3 June 1947 – 31 July 1989 as si, ප්‍රේමකීර්ති ද අල්විස්), popularly known as Premakeerthi de Alwis, was a Sri Lankan radio and television broadcaster and lyricist. Considered as an iconic figure in Sri Lankan radio television history, he was assassinated during the 1987–89 JVP Insurrection at the age of 42. Prasantha Lal De Alwis, President's counsel, obtained his LLB and LLM from University of Colombo. Padmalal de Alwis is a Sri Lankan politician and a member of the Central Provincial Council. He is a member of the United National Party. He is known as 'Kalu Aliya'. Neal De Alwis
William Neal de Alwis (born 19 January 1914) was a Ceylonese politician and a senior member of the Lanka Sama Samaja Party. William Neal de Alwis was born on 19 January 1914, and he received his education at Newstead Girls' School, Negombo, All Saints College, Galle and St. Joseph's College, Colombo. At the 1st parliamentary election, held between 23 August 1947 and 20 September 1947, he ran as the LSSP candidate in the Udugama electorate. He failed to get elected losing by 5,464 votes to the United National Party candidate, D. S. Goonesekera. At the 2nd parliamentary election, held between 24 May 1952 and 30 May 1952, he successfully contested the seat of Udugama, securing 43% of the total vote, defeating Goonesekera by 2,735 votes. Malathi De Alwis
Malathi de Alwis (6th Oct 1963-21 Jan 2021, also known as Mala de Alwis) was a Sri Lankan anthropologist. She taught at the International Centre for Ethnic Studies and the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the University of Colombo. She wrote about militarism, nationalism and feminism. Career De Alwis earned her PhD in socio-cultural anthropology from the University of Chicago, where she was a founding member of the Women Against War Coalition and a winner of the Ruth Murray Memorial Prize for Best Essay in Gender Studies. Lakshman De Alwis
Lakshman de Alwis (March 17, 1940 – April 6, 2008) was the National coach for Athletics in Sri Lanka. De Alwis started his career in Athletics when was a school boy at ''Moratuwa Vidyalaya'' and in 1958 awarded as Junior National Champion for Athletics after winning the 100m and 200m events. He also represented Sri Lanka in 1959 for the All-India meet. He earned national record in 1962 for the 400m, and was a member of the 4 × 200 m Relay Quartet. De Alwis born to Carolina and Richard de Alwis. He studied at Moratuwa Vidyalaya (Moratuwa) and participated in athletics also there.
