The Dayton City League is an OHSAA-sponsored athletic league that is entirely made up of schools located within Dayton, Ohio that are part of Dayton Public Schools Dayton Public Schools is the school district in the U.S. state of Ohio that serves Dayton, Ohio. Ohio High School Athletic Association
The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) is the governing body of athletic programs for junior and senior high schools in the state of Ohio. The OHSAA governs eligibility of student athletes, resolves disputes, organizes levels of competition by divisional separation of schools according to attendance population, and conducts state championship competitions in all the OHSAA-sanctioned sports. Membership There are approximately 820 member high schools and 850 more schools in the 7th-8th grade division of the OHSAA. Most public and private high schools in Ohio belong to the OHSAA. Belmont High School is 1 of 6 high schools in the Dayton Public Schools school district. The school is located in Dayton, Ohio, and serves approximately 1000 students. The school mascot is the bison. Paul Laurence Dunbar High School is part of Dayton City Schools. The school is located in Dayton, Ohio, and serves approximately 550 students. The school is named after poet Paul Laurence Dunbar, a Dayton native. The school mascot is the wolverine. About Paul Laurence Dunbar High School is the only historically African-American high school in Dayton. It was created to educate African-American youth and to employ teachers of color. The school originally opened on Summit Street in 1931 and graduated its first class in 1936. In 1962 a new Dunbar high school was opened and the original building was renamed MacFarlane Elementary. Thurgood Marshall High School is a public high school in Dayton, Ohio. The school is named for the late African American pioneering civil rights attorney and Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall. The school was established in 2007. About Thurgood Marshall High School was formed in 2007 after the merger of Colonel White High School and Nettie Lee Roth Middle School. Roth had previously been a high school until it was converted to a middle school in 1982. Thurgood Marshall was built on the former site of Roth and decided to use Colonel White's nickname of the "Cougars."
