Dawn Driscoll is an American politician and farmer serving as a member of the Iowa Senate from the 46th district. Elected in November 2020, she assumed office on January 11, 2021. Early life and education Driscoll was born in Annawan, Illinois. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in agronomy from Western Illinois University. Tim L. Kapucian (born August 2, 1957) is an American politician who served as a member of the Iowa Senate from the Iowa Senate, District 38, 38th district. A Republican Party (United States), Republican, he served from 2009 to 2021. Early life and education Kapucian was born in Keystone, Iowa. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science from Iowa State University. Career A farmer, he is the past president of the Iowa Pork Producers. Kapucian was Iowa Senate elections, 2008, elected in 2008 to the Iowa Senate, District 20, 20th district with 15,527 votes, defeating Iowa Democratic Party, Democratic opponent Randy Braden. Iowa County is a county located in the U.S. state of Iowa. As of the 2020 census, the population was 16,662. The county seat is Marengo. Iowa County is one of seven counties in the United States to share the same name as the state they are located in. The other six counties are Arkansas County, Hawaii County, Idaho County, New York County, Oklahoma County, and Utah County. History Iowa County was formed on February 17, 1843. It was named for the Iowa River, which flows through the county. The first courthouse was a log cabin built in 1847. This was rented by the county until 1850 when a second courthouse was completed. There are 50 seats in the Iowa Senate, representing 50 single-member districts across the state of Iowa with populations of approximately 60,927 per constituency, . Each Senate district is composed of two House districts. The Senate meets at the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines. Unlike the lower house, the Iowa House of Representatives, Senators serve four-year terms, with no term limits. Terms are staggered so that half the Senate is up for reelection every two years.
