Davtashen ( hy, Դավթաշեն վարչական շրջան, translit=Davtašen varčakan šrĵan), also known as Davitashen or Davidashen, is one of the 12 districts of Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. Located on the right bank of Hrazdan River, Davtashen is bordered by the districts of Ajapnyak and Arabkir from the south, and the Kotayk Province from the north. Overview With an area of 6.47 km², (2, 9% of the Yerevan city area), Davtashen is the 2nd-smallest district of Yerevan in terms of area. It is unofficially divided into smaller neighborhoods such as the 4 blocks of Davtashen, Northern Davtashen and Huysi Avan. The main streets of the district are Sasna Tsrer Street, Tigran Petrosian Street, Pirumians Street, Aghababyan Street and Anastas Mikoyan Street. Davtashen Bridge
Davtashen Bridge or Davitashen Bridge ( hy, Դավթաշենի կամուրջ) is a bridge for traffic linking across the Hrazdan River in Yerevan, Armenia. It connects the Vaghrshyan street of Arabkir district with the Sasna Tzrer street of Davtashen district within the capital city. The construction process was launched during the 1970s by the Soviet government but abandoned shortly after. Only in 2000, the construction of the bridge was completed. Ajapnyak ( hy, Աջափնյակ վարչական շրջան, translit=Ajapnyak varčakan šrĵan), is one of the 12 districts of Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. Located to the northwest of the city centre, Ajapnyak has common borders with the districts of Arabkir from the east, Davtashen from the north, Kentron from the southeast, and Malatia-Sebastia from the south. Hrazdan River
The Hrazdan ( hy, Հրազդան գետ, ) is a major river and the second largest in Armenia. It originates at the northwest extremity of Lake Sevan and flows south through the Kotayk Province and Armenia's capital, Yerevan; the lake in turn is fed by several streams. In the Ararat plain it joins the Aras river along the border with Turkey. Its waters join the Kura river, before flowing into the Caspian Sea. A series of hydro-electric plants have been constructed on the river. Its waters are in demand to irrigate crops. Names The river was called Ildaruni in Urartian.
