''Indexi'' is the Bosnian music award. It given by the Indexi Award Direction and Indexi Award Programme Committee. The award was established in 2002 in Zenica by Josip Dujmović. The initial name of the award was ''Davorin'', honouring one of the most famous Bosnian pop/rock singers Davorin Popović from Indexi. In 2008, the award was renamed Indexi Indexi was a Bosnian and former Yugoslav rock band popular in Yugoslavia. It formed in 1962 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and disbanded in 2001 when singer Davorin Popović died. Some of their most notable songs are "Svijet u kome živ ..., after Davorin's band. Bosnia and Herzegovina ( sh, / , ), abbreviated BiH () or B&H, sometimes called Bosnia–Herzegovina and often known informally as Bosnia, is a country at the crossroads of south and southeast Europe, located in the Balkans. Zenica
Zenica ( ; ; ) is a city in Bosnia and Herzegovina and an administrative and economic center of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Zenica-Doboj Canton. It is located in the Bosna (river), Bosna river valley, about north of Sarajevo. The city is known for its Ironworks Zenica factory but also as a significant University of Zenica, university center. According to the 2013 population census in Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2013 census, the settlement of Zenica itself counts 70,553 citizens and the administrative area 110,663. The urban part of today's city was formed in several phases, including Neolithic, Illyrian, the Roman Municipium of ''Bistua Nuova'' (2nd–4th century; old name of the city), with an early Christian dual basilica. Davorin Popović
Davorin Popović (23 September 1946 – 18 June 2001) was a Bosnian singer and songwriter, born in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He was well known throughout the former Yugoslavia. He was the lead singer and frontman of the progressive rock, progressive and pop rock band Indexi throughout most of their career. He and his band "Indexi" became founders of specific music style in former Yugoslavia known as "Sarajevo pop-rock school" who later influenced other bands and singers in Sarajevo and other parts of Yugoslavia. Personally, he was popularly associated with the 1960s Bohemianism, bohemian lifestyle of Sarajevo. In his youth, he was a successful basketball player. During his career, he earned nicknames including "Pimpek", "Davor", "Dačo" or simply "Pjevač" (''The Singer'') due to his unique voice. Indexi
Indexi was a Bosnian and former Yugoslav rock band popular in Yugoslavia. It formed in 1962 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and disbanded in 2001 when singer Davorin Popović died. Some of their most notable songs are "Svijet u kome živim" and "Negdje u kraju, u zatišju" with lyrics by Želimir Altarac Čičak, "Plima", "Sve ove godine", "Sanjam" and "Bacila je sve niz rijeku", which was later covered by many other ex-Yugoslavian groups, notably Crvena jabuka. Indexi formed in 1962, and their name was derived from the "Indeks" which was a student's grade log. They began by making instrumental covers of popular hits, but in 1967 started composing. They were known as the "Pioneers of Psychedelic Rock", and were inspired by many bands like the Beatles, Yes, and The Guess Who. Branimir Lokner, music editor and reviewer from Belgrade, Serbia. He worked as a music critic beginning in 1980, and has released two books about critical views oriented to former Yugoslavian artists. Zlatko Gall
Zlatko Gall (born December 1, 1954) is a Croatian journalist, commentator and rock critic. Gall was born in Split, and he graduated in art history and archeology at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Zagreb. Gall worked as a journalist in ''Slobodna Dalmacija'' from 1979 to 1995. After working for ''Tjednik'' and ''Feral Tribune'' weeklies, he returned to ''Slobodna Dalmacija'' in 2001. Zlatko Gall is known as an advocate for rock music as an expression of urban culture and liberal values. He sees rock music as the antithesis of turbo folk which was associated with rural culture, conservative values, extreme nationalism and right-wing politics in former Yugoslavia. He often criticises pop and rock musicians who add elements of folk and turbo folk to their repertoire in order to make their music more accessible to the public.
