Davis Township is one of eleven townships in Fountain County, Indiana, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 682 and it contained 286 housing units. Geography According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of , of which (or 99.28%) is land and (or 0.72%) is water. It contains no incorporated settlements but four unincorporated ones. Both Maysville Crossing and Riverside lie in the northwest part of the township along the Norfolk Southern Railway line; Riverside is across the Wabash River from Independence in neighboring Warren County. Roberts is in the eastern part of the township, and Vine is near the center. There is a naturally occurring hollow in the Township known as Possum Holler. It's a ready-made weather break for those who live there and a lovely drive for those passing through. The area is rich in a wide variety of indigenous flora and fauna. Independence, Indiana
Independence is a small unincorporated community in Warren Township, Warren County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. History A trading post existed at this location as early as 1811. The village was laid out on October 5, 1832 by Zachariah Cicott, a French-Indian trader and scout for General William Henry Harrison, on Cicott's Reserve, ground that was given to him by the government for his services. A post office was established on March 24, 1834 and closed on January 31, 1950. Now the town uses the post office in nearby Attica, despite the fact that Attica is in a different county. The first newspaper in the county was produced in Independence, starting in 1844. It was called the Wabash Register and was run by Enos Canutt. Warren Township is one of twelve townships in Warren County, Indiana, United States. According to the 2010 census, its population was 806 and it contained 324 housing units. History Warren Township was one of the original four created when the county was organized in 1827. Kates Pond is in this township, and the streams of Dry Branch, Kickapoo Creek, Little Pine Creek, Middle Branch and West Fork Kickapoo Creek run through it.
