Dave Webster
David A. Webster Jr. (July 23, 1937 – June 23, 2006) in Atlanta, Texas, was a professional American football cornerback who played two seasons for that American Football League's Dallas Texans, 1960–1961. He was an All-AFL selection in 1961. Early years Webster was the son of David A. Webster Sr. and Eunice (Harper) Webster. He lived in Atlanta, Texas, until he was 13 years old, when he moved to Houston with his mother. He was educated in the Atlanta Public Schools, Holy Cross Lutheran schools and Jack Yates High School. He attended Yates High School in Houston and graduated as the valedictorian of his class. He also helped his Yates team to a city championship and a state championship in football as the starting quarterback. Webster had represented Derbyshire in the Second XI Championship since 1970, and also appeared in the competition in 1972 and 1974. His only first-class appearance came in a university match against Oxford University in 1975. Steady in the middle-order, he was economical enough with the ball to see the Peakites to a victory in Burton upon Trent. Webster did not play competitive cricket after the 1975 season. David Webster (born 7 April 1990) is an Irish professional footballer for League of Ireland Premier Division club Drogheda United. He has previously played for Bray Wanderers, Shamrock Rovers, Waterford, St Patrick's Athletic and Finn Harps. Club career Bray Wanderers Webster came through Bray Wanderers youth setup and signed a contract with Eddie Gormley's first team squad in February 2008 whilst still playing for the reserve side in the A Championship. His first senior appearance for the club came on 5 May 2008 when he came on as a substitute for Paddy Kavanagh with 9 minutes left of a 1–0 win over Shamrock Rovers at the Carlisle Grounds in the League Cup. His only other appearance that season came on 16 July 2008 when he started in a friendly against English League One side Millwall, in a 1–0 loss for Wanderers. David Webster (born 11 September 1987 in East Melbourne) is an Australian national champion rowing coxswain who steered Australian crews at six World Rowing Championships and won two world championship titles in 2010 and 2011. Club and state rowing Webster was educated at Melbourne Grammar School where he took up rowing. His senior rowing was done from the Melbourne University Boat Club. From 2011 to 2016 Webster was selected to represent Victoria in the senior men's eight contesting the King's Cup at the Interstate Regatta within the Australian Rowing Championships. David Kenyon Webster (2 June 1922 – disappeared 9 September 1961) was an American soldier, journalist and author. During World War II he was a private with E Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, in the 101st Airborne Division. Webster was portrayed in the HBO miniseries '' Band of Brothers'' by Eion Bailey. Youth Webster was born in New York City of English and Scottish descent. He was educated at The Taft School, Watertown, Connecticut, then enrolled as an English literature major at Harvard University. In 1942, he volunteered for the paratroopers before finishing his degree. He used his middle name while addressing his family in his letters to home rather than his first name, David. David Webster (anthropologist)
David Webster (1 December 1944 – 1 May 1989) was an academic and anti-apartheid activist. He worked as an anthropologist at the University of the Witwatersrand, where he was a senior lecturer at the time of his assassination. Webster was a founding member of the Detainees' Parents' Support Committee (DPSC) in 1981, a founder member of the Five Freedoms Forum, and a committed comrade in the United Democratic Front. Webster was also an active member of the Orlando Pirates supporters' club and he assisted in the mobilisation and organisation of South African musicians during the Struggle in the 1980s. He was a long-term ethnographic researcher and his work near Kosi Bay on the Mozambican border resulted in a number of peer-reviewed academic publications. David Webster (1885–1952) was a Scottish-Canadian architect best known for his designs of elementary schools in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. His school designs were often in a Collegiate Gothic style emphasizing a central tower, locally referred to as a "castle style". Along with other local architects of his era, such as Walter LaChance and Storey and Van Egmond, Webster prospered during the province’s 1912 economic boom which sparked a frenzy of new construction. Biography Webster was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1885. However, one reputable source gives 1886 as the year of birth. He articled with the Glasgow firm of Jarvis and McAlpin, and moved to Winnipeg in 1902. During his six years in Winnipeg, he had four different employers: G.W. Murray, J. David Webster (opera Manager)
Sir David Lumsden Webster (3 July 1903 – 9 May 1971) was the chief executive of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, from 1945 to 1970. He played a key part in the establishment of the Royal Ballet and Royal Opera companies. From a retail background, Webster became chairman of the Liverpool Philharmonic during the Second World War. From there he was asked to set up opera and ballet companies at Covent Garden. He persuaded the existing Sadler's Wells Ballet to move to the opera house but found no established opera company suitable to do the same, and he set up a new opera company from scratch. At first, Webster presented opera in English with a permanent company, but as Covent Garden flourished and international stars were attracted to appear, the policy gradually changed to presenting operas in their original language. David William Ernest Webster (20 October 1923 – 7 January 1969) was a British Conservative Party politician. Born in Arbroath, Scotland, Webster was educated at Fettes College, Edinburgh and Downing College, Cambridge (MA History), and was a stockbroker before entering Parliament. He contested Bristol North East in 1955. He was elected as Member of Parliament (MP) for Weston-super-Mare in the 1958 by-election after the death of Sir Ian Leslie Orr-Ewing. He was returned at the three subsequent general elections. Webster died suddenly at Westminster Hospital on 7th January 1969, after being taken ill following an Austrian ski holiday with his family.
